I would hope that had Marrone pledged any money to the construction of a dedicated practice facility for SU football this would have been publicized, a risky assumption, perhaps, given the history of the SID's office in communicating important information to the public. Calculating based on an annual salary of 1 million for Marrone and 1.7 million for London along with an approximate 10% higher cost of living in Charlottesville as compared to Syracuse a rough comparable donation from Marrone would be about 150K.

How many other coaches donate to these types of things? What if they get canned in a year or 2?

Marrone is an alumnus and has often proclaimed his love for the University and this is his dream job....right?

True, but I think he should be focusing on coaching this team and not on how much he is going to donate. Donations can come down the road.

I dont understand how Marrone thinking about donating to a cause would take any time out of his day. Gross: "Coach, would you be willing to donate 150k to a new practice facility for you team, think about the tax deductions and betterment of the university. Marrone: "Daryl you're right, 150k? lets go 300k to one up Coach London, gotta make a big statement with the ACC move."

Done and done. Yet I doubt any coach has donated in the past and I think this is a great ploy to recruits for Virginia, basically stating that Coach London is so involved and so much love for the university that he wont be leaving anytime soon, and that recruits know that he will be there for the long haul.

London was a great hire made better by this (and BTW - Charlottesville's cost of living for housing is a lot more than 10% more than Syracuse). London has brought in great recruits and has it turning around fast. Any wonder why Penn State tried to get him as soon as the Sandusky scandal was breaking?

Lmao. How easy it is to spend other people's money.

Marrone wants other facilities upgraded first, we already have two indoor places to practice.

I'm sure London will be hit with some type of NCAA violation for his gesture.

WHY? He isn't allowed to make a donation to the school?

He didn't break any rules

I wasn't being serious. But after the Richt violation it seems like anything is possible when a coach spends his own money on something program related.

Not when you factor in property taxes.

Penn St tried hiring London late in the season shortly after the crap hit the fan to become their head coach. UVA wouldn't let them talk to him and London said he wasn't interested.

London is great. Winning Games. Recruiting has never been better. Total charisma guy.

Amazing what a good coach can do in 2 yrs.
