SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Since taking over the Syracuse volleyball program in 2012, head coach Leonid Yelin has started a tradition of featuring a handful of home games a year in the Carrier Dome. In 2014 the tradition continues as he and the Orange are set to host three more ACC contenders in the dome.
In the program's brief history competing in the Loud House, Coach Yelin's squad is 3-3 and 2-2 against ACC opposition. This year in the Carrier Dome, SU will take on Atlantic Coast Conference foes, Louisville and Wake Forest, in a weekend series concluding a four-match home stand on October 17 and 19. The team's third and final match in the dome is slated for 7:00 PM against Virginia Tech on November 26.
Louisville presents the toughest challenge in the conference as it ran through the ACC unscathed in 2013, enjoying an 18-0 record in the conference and a 23-8 record overall. The Cardinals earned themselves a NCAA Tournament appearance only to fall to Marquette in the first round.
Virginia Tech had a successful season overall in 2013 with a 22-12 record. However, the Hokies split in the ACC with a 10-10 record. Wake Forest struggled within the conference last year at 5-15 and a 16-16 record total.
