A - There is no more BCS
B - There are about 50 teams that can say the same thing that are unranked
My point is that they have proven nothing. Brands don't get you ranked especially after they graduate.

Wit VPI's performance, can everyone stop preaching how wonderful they are? And how they are a contender? Beamer gets a big win (tOSU) and falls prey to a team his boys should have walked all over, at least according to the talking heads and many on here who believe the VPI hype. Beamer ball usually loses to big games but wins the games they should win. Because of this, they do not know how to win after a big win. Even ESPN commented on this:
"Virginia Tech has now lost four of its last five games immediately after beating a ranked team."

Two bcs wins is an impressive feat, who cares about brands, they are a very good program.

There are many good programs, most of them are unranked. Rankings are based on on field performance, not how good a "program" you have or what "brands" or "brand" you have or have had in the past.
Two FBS (there is no more BCS remember) wins is not an impressive feat when one of them is Murray State. They have done nothing to be ranked THIS SEASON and shouldn't have been, period.
Clearly evidenced by their loss to Virginia.
Here's how I feel about ECU. You don't get credit for playing them and thus not enough credit when you beat them and criticized when you don't. Lose lose situation and for some reason the pundits make it this way as ECU doesn't have that big name school tag thing that some many seem to care about on the "expert" analysis shows.

BC beat USC and UMass
Ga Tech 3-0 beat Ga Southern and Tulane Not ranked, great accomplishment 2 FBS teams
NC State 3-0 beat Ga Southern, USF and ODU Not ranked, great accomplishment 3 FBS teams
There are about 35 teams that have done what they have done and are unranked.

I think you're talking about two different things. I'm pretty sure he's referring to Louisville having a brand because they've won 2 BCS bowls ('06 Orange and '12 Sugar), and you're referring to their FBS wins this year.
You don't really believe that, do you?
I am talking about bcs bowl games, they have won two, the 06 orange bowl they beat wake forrest, and they beat Florida in the Sugar bowl a couple years ago. Not many programs can say they have won two bcs bowl games, we sure can't.

Two BCS wins is impressive. What did Louisville do before that? Syracuse was down, WVU was not at their best. Pitt was down. They won in an era that was favorable and now they have to win in a solid conference. In historical terms, Louisville is a fad, not a brand. They may become a brand if they keep it up.

We have a national championship and have been to 3 BCS bowls in recent history. Louisville is barely over .500 program all time and barely over .500 in bowls all time including those BCS wins. Our history is longer, richer and better but we aren't ranked. Using your logic we should be.
Regardless of that, they do not deserve to be ranked which was my original argument. Even before their loss.
History has nothing to do with that. Going to and winning a BCS bowl and 2006 and 2012 does not mean they have a brand and certainly does not equate to them being ranked this year. Period.
I wasn't talking overall, obviously we have the better overall profile. I just meant what they have accomplished over the past few years, they have been a very good program for a while not.
The only reason that they were ranked was because other teams lost ahead of them.
