Grossi Named Rookie of the Week
The freshman has a team leading six points this season

Freshman forward Stephanie Grossi was named CHA Rookie of the Week on Monday after she recorded a pair of assists in the Orange's 3-1 win over Penn State in its conference opener on Friday.

Grossi helped break the 1-1 tie by setting up teammates Julie Knerr and Allie LaCombe for the final-two goals of the game.

Her two points on the weekend put her into a tie for the team-lead with six points.

Grossi has twice previously been named to the CHA honor roll this season.

Grossi and the Orange will return to action on Friday when the team hosts Mercyhurst.

'Cuse hosts No. 7 Mercyhurst for weekend pair
Orange looking to stay unbeaten in CHA play

The Syracuse ice hockey team will look to stay unbeaten in conference play this weekend when the Orange hosts No. 7 Mercyhurst.

Orange Open CHA Play
- Syracuse hosted Penn State for a pair last weekend to open league play.
- The Orange won the conference opener 3-1 before tying the Nittany Lions 2-2 on Saturday.
- 'Cuse won its conference opener for the second-straight season and fifth time in seven years.
- The Orange owned an 86-37 shots advantage on the weekend.

'Cuse vs. Mercyhurst
- This is the 30th meeting between the two programs, the most of any Syracuse opponent.
- The Lakers eliminated the Orange from the CHA playoffs in each of the past five seasons adding fuel to the conference rivalry.
- Last season, the Orange was 0-4-1 against the Lakers, but three of the four losses were decided by one goal.

'Cuse vs. Ranked Opponents
-Syracuse is 0-3-0 against ranked opponents in 2014 and 3-25-3 in the past four seasons against teams in the top-10.
- The Orange's last win over a ranked opponent came to No. 9/8 Robert Morris on Feb. 8, 2014. (3-1).

Grossi Named CHA Rookie of the Week
- Freshman forward Stephanie Grossi earned CHA Rookie of the Week Honors on Monday for her play against Penn State.
- Grossi recorded both assists in Saturday's 2-2 tie with the Nittany Lions.

Syracuse hosts Mercyhurst at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
