Wallace Ungwilik, the Stephen Curry of the Bering Sea

Is he a D1 prospect? He looks slow and small. He sure has that no look pass down but the competition appears to be about 8th grade level. I think we might have another Tameer Godwin here .

Not sure if he is a D1 prospect. A friend of mine is close with his parents. I'll ask. Yea, the talent level they are playing against is not very high. I'll be down in Anchorage for the state tournament in March. I'll look for him, and see how he plays against some better competition.

On kind of the same subject, has anyone seen advertisements for an NFL special about the highschool football team in Barrow Alaska? I'll see if I can find a link.

I've seen more about the attitude of towns people in Barrow towards Shell Oil.

Whatever you read about Barrow's "attitude" regarding Shell is typical propaganda. Barrow runs on big oil. The Borough (county) taxes the pipeline. They pay school teachers 6 figure salaries and build massive deep underground utility corridors to bring 20th century amenities in the world's harshest conditions. There is concern about disturbance to whaling but these people are not manikins to be preserved in a museum. Read the referenced article. And yes, they still whale in Barrow, but they also field a high school football team and want the same opportunities as every one else. The majority are realists. There is still a subsistence lifestyle, but most Barrow residents are part of the cash economy.
