If not, 2nd and goal from the 2 w/ a 240 lb bowling ball of a RB at our disposal, why do you run Bailey once then pass twice knowing youre going on 4th down? Give it to AAM 3 times... Hell, give it to Harris 3 times. Anything but what we did.

We won't see him the rest of the season and he is not injured.

Who knows, maybe the coaches are afraid he'll run to the wrong hole like he did last weekend.

Lordy. What happened?
Anyone who attended the last luncheon knew that Moore was not going to play again this season. I am not sure why you would burn this kids redshirt season for one or two carries a game but that's what the head coach decided to do. Pretty stupid decision in my opinion but I am only a fan.

Wish i was local so i could attend those. Thanks for the heads up.

Living a couple hundred miles away from Syracuse, I don't get to many (any) Marrone lunches. Would you mind sharing what you were told about Moore? There are times I miss the full house backfield. AAM was built for this formation.

1st rule about luncheons... you dont talk about luncheons. 2nd rule of luncheons... YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT LUNCHEONS.

Trust me I'd love to know too but i know coach asks all the info he shares there stays in house.

Is he a transfer candidate? Might already be recruited over.

No indication that he is not happy just that Smith and Bailey are the go to guys for now.
Well that sucks, because Smith and Bailey aren't cutting the mustard right now.

If we can't find a dynamic RB, we are officially screwed for next season. I see nobody on the roster (or committed recruits) that currently fits that bill.

You think our running game looks like crap right now, just wait until next year when we lose half of our OLine along with Ant. We might struggle to gain positive yardage on any running play. But, if Hackett is still around he will at least try to "run the ball down their throats" on first and second down every time.

We already do struggle to gain positive yardage on running plays but we keep dialing them up. It can't possibly get worse.

Take away your best RB (even though Ant's average at best) and your biggest OLineman (Tiller), and it will get worse. Those zero gain plays will quickly turn into 2 and 3 yard losses.

I personally think the offense will go to more passing with some power runs. I mean, Tiller and Hay can't pass block and are above average run blockers. So, I think run blocking will take a step back next year while pass blocking will take a step forward.

That's a big assumption. Who's to say the guys behind Tiller and Hay (who haven't even played) are going to be better at pass blocking?

Regardless of the OL, what the hell are we going to do a RB next year? There's no 4star RB walking through that door (at least no known 4star RB at this time).

Gulley hasn't impressed me. Smith runs too high and isn't shifty enough. Verdict is still out on AAM (I would love to see a giant leap by him, but who knows?). Rene isn't an option.

Even if we go to more of a pass first offense, we still don't have WR's on the offense that can stretch the field. We lose Provo, out #1 option, and Chew. Alec Lemon can't do it all.

If you think our offense is bad this year, just wait until next year.

Come on, optimism is what feeds the beast!

Seriously though, it is hard to be worse at pass blocking then Tiller and Hay. Trudo is a quality recruit and then Hickey/Alexander/Curtis competing for the T spot. Optimistic that run blocking will worsen while pass blocking improves.

RB is going to be Gulley and Smith. I think Gulley is going to win the job. Hard to tell now, but that is the thing. Sounds like people in the know are high on McFarlane, so we will see what happens.

WR will have Lemon and an improved West. Then it is put up or shut up time from Flemming. And someone said the staff thinks Wales can replace Provo production (don't buy it, but someone said it). Also hope Kobena takes a step forward.

Still have to be optimistic!

Your pessimism is definitely warranted but the offense can actually be better next year if a few things happen:

1) Nassib improves or gets beaten out by one of the young QBs who simply proves to be more talented. If that happens, hopefully the upgrade in talent will outweigh the lack experience (see: Teddy Bridgewater).

2) We keep McFarlane's commitment and add another back w/ size and speed; namely Lynch, Morris, or Perkins, in that order of preference (at RB). They're all good and any one of them has a chance to come in and play over the returning backs. And I think that's very key because Marrone's "system" obviously relies heavily on the running back and as we're seeing w/ Bailey this season, not having the right back in that "carry the lumber" role really hurts this offense. PTG will likely be a part of whatever RB rotation develops but hopefully as the change-up/3rd down back and not the lead back. I'd hate to go into '12 relying on another smallish feature back. That being said, if PTG proves to be the best option, by all means, give him the rock.

3) Assuming Sales will be back, he and Lemon can push each other for that #1 WR slot and a shot at the league. If he hasn't regressed, Sales will likely be our best receiver and a legit playmaker that opposing defenses will have to account for. Hopefully a few other reliable options can emerge from the returning wideouts and the incoming frosh. Cornelius looks like a baller. Ditto for the young tight ends coming in; Thompson in particular. At 240lbs, he's already big enough to play. He looks like he can be an impact player from Day 1.

4) If Hickey doesn't get hurt, who knows, maybe he's starting by now. Hopefully he'll come back healthy and be an upgrade over Hay, with one of the other returning lineman adequately stepping in for Tiller. And if Mackey fends off any challengers to his spot, we can only hope he continues to improve along w/ the line as a unit.

While we may not be a juggernaut, we legitimately have a chance to improve at every offensive skill position next year, particularly at RB and WR, where the improvements are most needed. TE may be the exception as Provo has been our best offensive player. But we have a chance to be better everywhere else.

The odds of all 4 of those things happening are extremely long. I'd love to see it happen, but I'm a realist.

Everyone always thinks the young kid that isn't playing today, will come back the next season and make a big impact. In reality, there's typically a reason why he's not playing today. We're limited at skill players. If any of the guys on the roster were capable of making a difference, I'd assume they'd be playing this season. That's not happening.

I don't expect anyone other than Nassib to start next year. He's taken every snap the last two years, do you think that's going to change for his senior year? I actually don't think he's our biggest problem. He's doing the best job he can with limited people around him. Does he have limited upside?, Yes, but he's the best that we've got right now.

Running back is a mess right now. I'm dying for someone to step up and make a breakthrough. I'm getting rather sick of UConn and Pitt finding RB after RB, but we have trouble getting a dynamic back to campus.

I don't expect Sales back. If that changes, it will be a positive.

Hopefully the OL improves next year. I'm always hopeful of that.

I wouldn't agree that the odds are extremely long but I do admit, there are a lot of 'ifs' involved. But hey, you never know.

Sales, we'll see what happens. I do agree that Nassib is the likely starter next year and that our RB situation isn't looking so hot right now. But again, as far as I know, we still have McFarlane's commitment and while I'm not sure how much of a shot we have w/ Lynch and Perkins, Morris is supposedly high on SU and will be visiting so that looks promising. If we sign Morris and McFarlane, both have a chance to play next year which would definitely be a good thing.

Doug is a fool for not running AAM at the goal line just like he was a fool last year for not playing Sales the guy is too stubborn for me and this will be his downfall I really hope he learns to enjoy life a little more and to put some joy back into this program.
