Between HS football, college football and soccer I go to 3-4 games every weekend.  I don't go to stand for 3 hours. If I do sit in the student section, I stand the whole game, I don't ask anyone else to sit. Standing at a sporting event is vastly over rated. Like you "I stand when the moment calls for it."  I enjoy analyzing the game, watching the whole field and drinking a beer and eating a dog.  I've never spilled a beer while sitting, I've never got mustard or cheese sauce on the guy next to me while sitting. But when a play deserves a high 5, I'm up.  I'm even up for big 3rd or 4th down plays.  I'm not up for 3rd and 5 from my own 25 in the 1st quarter.
And for the guy who said you'd get run out of the stadium in the big 10 or SEC if you asked someone to sit I doubt they've been to a game there.  I've been to games in Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, Jacksonville, Columbus, West Lafayette, Boulder, Seattle, Tempe, State College and the Coliseum (USC).  The student sections stand.  The rest of the people sit except when the play calls for it.  Late in games, yeah alot of people stand.  If peopel in front of me start standing and its not jsut them, but the peopel in front of them etc. then I stand.  If someone behind me complains I just turn and with a regretful look point to the people in front of me.
