I think Hop's biggest flaws have been he has too much loyalty. He had a ton of loyalty to McDaniels, as well as his first recruits, Naz Carter and Hamier Wright. As the season has progressed, I think he has learned to play the best players, rather than the kids who had more stars next to their name in high school. What we need to understand is that Hop has very little head coaching experience and is still learning. He swung and missed on some big recruits. Had some unfortunate misses like Beachamp who chose to skip college, he was suppose to be a shoe in at UW. After missing on others, I think Hop has chosen to save those scholarships for the following class. Also, in state class for 2020 is one of the weakest in a long time. I think only one guy from Washington (Beachamp) was top 100. Whereas 2021 is loaded for the state of Washington. If everything lines up, Hop could have a monster class for 2021. Jackson Grant a fringe top 50 recruit has already signed. The hope is to land Banchero (top 5 recruit), Nolan Hickman (should be top 50 recruit by his senior season), Shane Nowell (should be top 100 by senior season) and Peyton Watson (top 50 recruit). I think UW likely gets Nowell and Hickman. I think UW is still the favorite for Banchero, but this season hasn't helped our chances. I think Watson is either going to UW or Arizona. If everything goes as planned, Hop could land a top 10 class. I think Hop is a good coach right now, but jury is out on him. I think he would be a fine replacement for JB, but if people aren't enjoying JB's style of play, Hop isn't the guy you want. He is an extension of JB. Just a younger and more energetic version of him. The style of play on the court will look almost identical. Recruiting will obviously be different, but a lot will be the same with Hop.
