Hakim said this in 2012 reflecting back on 2003:
“It was something that you don’t see from a freshman,” said Warrick. “I know we were young, pretty much all young. I was a sophomore; we were all pretty much sophomores (three) and freshmen (four). I may be wrong but I think this was what was meant by the OP. Even Melo, who no one can say was ever a hick, can now more fully understand and appreciate the special accomplishment he had as a young freshman. Gorman's statement was a message about their youth not about where anyone was born nor their individual experiences.
