up until the 90 yd pass it was 162-2 in yards. so many chances. some strange play calls.
1) we took chances. the fake on the punt. really unexpected, something we have not done in years.
2) the AB drop.. watching it again i wonder if the ref didnt block him out a bit it got on him pretty fast as the ref ducked.
3) the double pass play. still wondering who called the penalty. watched it a few times never saw a flag. worst part is both passes were laterals the 2nd not even remotely close to forward.. too energy out of the bldg and let clemson get set for the next play .
3) the double pass play part 2.. how do we miss so many blocks on one play . gulley/hickey and another oline guy . really well run play for squat.. no TD , no score later in the series, no FD. we should have been looking at 35-24 and the house going crazy..
4) hickey had an up and down day.. yeah he missed a few blocks. the reality was if he touched beasley he blocked him.. a couple times beasley was 2 steps ahead of everyone on the field. not sure if hickey every heard the snap
5) we have a bunch of rcvrs who dont run go routes. some of this is play design, but too many times we dont go hard , we round off routes making it easy to cover and we dont fight off press coverage.
6) PI on clark on 4th down.. SS wanted it. the crowd wanted it. surprised it wasnt called the DB had his hands on him before the ball was even thrown and went threw him with contact before hitting the ball. made a decent play on the ball with his hands but the contact disrupted the play..
7) i wish we had tried the toss/sweep type plays a few more times. NC st ran the jet sweep 2-3 times with success. we tried it one time into the short field and left Estimie no room. but we ran the sweep 2-3 times and it worked.
8) Beasley was really the only DL go who caused problems. the others slowed down a few runs, but did little to cause pass issues. Hunt screwed himself a few times. he stepped up into trouble and couple times he went the wrong way. Thats from lack of experience against elite DE's hopefully gets better at it after more than 2 starts.

10) the few times we made Boyd look at more than option we hit him. we need more of that.
11) I think the coaches need to work with Hunt on changing plays at the line.. If teams are going to play 15 yd cushions we need to take those 5 yd plays and move on.. move AB to the outside and give him a shot to make one guy miss.
in the end the crowd was done after the BOMB. nice throw nice catch. but another blown coverage by the LB/DB group caused the safety to jump up on the slot guy and let Watkins get over the top. IF that coverage isnt blown Estridge probably stays back and if Boyd holds it a split second longer he gets crushed.. story of the game.. missed assignments, just like NW and good offenses eat that up.
