http://cuse.com/news/2015/2/19/WBB_0219151146.aspx Junior guard Brianna Butler entered Thursday night's game five 3-pointers away from the program career record. It took just over 10 minutes and only five attempts to set the mark. It was one of Butler's hottest nights of the season, finishing with 22 points and surpassing the Syracuse career record for 3-point field goals made, as No. 25/RV Syracuse coasted past Boston College, 73-51. Butler racked up six treys on the night, being just one 3-point field goal shy of her career-high. She now ranks first in school history with 231 3-point field goals, a record previously held by Julie McBride. McBride knocked down 229 3-pointers in her Orange career. "She shot the ball really, really well today," head coach Quentin Hillsman said. "I thought she set the tone early by taking every open shot and really being aggressive looking for a shot." Butler made all but one shot in the first half, going 7-8 from the field and 6-7 from the 3-point line, finishing the opening half with 20 of her 22 points. Thursday marked the 19th time this season she finished with double-digit scoring. Her five steals on the night passed her season-high and tied her personal-best, with the last time being vs. Temple on Dec. 16, 2013. The record-breaking night was the latest in a hot-stretch for Butler, who has scored in double figures in four straight games, averaging 18.5 points per game over that span. She entered these last four contests shooting under 30 percent from the field, but she's upped that to 46 percent in her most recent four games. When Boston College head coach Erik Johnson was asked if he was surprised to see Butler's performance based off her earlier efforts he simply stated, "No, emphatically no." Butler will look to continue her hot streak on Sunday afternoon against Pittsburgh. Tipoff is scheduled for noon at the Carrier Dome.
