We’ve come full circle

That was actually the second one they did. About 2 years before they did a 3-4 minute panel discussion about “what the hell happened to Syracuse football.” It just didn’t have a taped piece to go with it.

The Gerg years

Gameday once did a piece on how surprising it was that we suck in football.

It’s probsbly time for another about our ascension.
Gerg was the worst and Shafer was just below average and it took about the same amount of time to recover from both hirings. Goes to show that even disasters aren't permanent. College football has this amazing ability to correct itself. Uconn and Rutgers are predestined to suck. Bama is predestined to be great. We are predestined to be pretty good from time to time

Funny how a guy who was here for five minutes righted the ship (coyle)

Hired a coach with head coaching experience and a proven offensive system and established track record. Who knew? And that should be exact criteria for the next coach should we have to find one. No meat, no d coordinators and no coach without experience.

It was his density.

Between GRob, Shafer and the Ash thread I think the results and the people have spoken.

If Wildhack finds himself in need of a new coach he already knows exactly how much of the pool to instantly eliminate.

But, getting a failed DC-turned-HC to be our DC is the kind of thing you look for in the interview process. Once they accept their ceiling, they’re gold for the staff.

In regards to “the path”.. We should schedule cupcakes OOC for as long as we have Clemson and FSU (if they get their act together) on our schedule.

Given the reality that barring absolute chaos, the only teams that will usually be allowed a one loss exemption are all SEC teams, Clemson, FSU, Oklahoma, OSU and Mich, so no need to try to get a scalp OOC when we (like 90% of P5) need to go undefeated and win our Conference Championship.

An undefeated ACC Champ will always get in as long as Clemson is Bama level or FSU/Miami figure themselves out. That guarantees a “blue blood” gets in, or the team that gets in would have beaten at least one of them.

The path is their for Dino if he wants to win a Championship. Start winning and you add 50k shaking the Dome, which is already the PERFECT home field for what Dino wants to do. Add in the fact that outside of Pitt/BC, all his away games are in the south. At USC, he plays outside in usually great weather, not the Dome but still good for his vision, however he’s traveling north for a lot of his away games into the rainy Northwest. A bit different than the Carolinas, Georgia and South Florida.

“People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect but actually, from a nonlinear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey ... stuff.”

Then I read this...and I'm like, "Oh, Okay!"

Yep and both were crucial factors.

Cheers,
Neil
