I understand that Shafer is more hands on with the defense, but he still has a defensive staff full of D3 coaches as some of you have put it. So I don't think the lack of experience when it comes to coaching has to be deadly thing. All coaches regardless of level start off lacking experience, but when you add lack of coaching experience, to injuries and to players who haven't performed up to their potential (of don't have the potential we thought they did) then you have a 3-8 season.
