Most of these coaches get cycled out soo quickly that they are all dedicated to catching up to Alabama.  A coach at Vanderbilt might say it but if your established, meaning been there for multiple years and at a good program like Auburn, LSU, GA, FL, etc, they wont say it, because the expectation is that they will compete with the best.  And if they dont or admit they can't, they are gone quick.  See Dan Mullen and many others.

My point, is if you are 77 and run the program that is 5th in all time wins, and admits you cant compete with a conference foe, what are you doing?  Why are you adamant that you will continue to coach next year?  Whats your purpose? What's your long game at this point?  Are you just going through the motions?  Whats your plan to change this?  What are you going to do differently at 77?

So to answer your question, im upset that its true but more upset that he said it because to me it shows he's admitting hes not up for the job anymore and no one can hold him accountable for letting the standards drop and the program decay.
