For some reason, I thought the last spot would come down to Dillon Stephens and Donny Scott. They red-shirted Stephens last year and I thought that was a sign they would have him start in 2026. Scott obviously came in with a high recruiting ranking but can't seem to stay healthy. We didn't hear anything about him at the scrimmages so not sure if he is hurt or couldn't crack the lineup. Ryan played in two games last year. I probably discounted him since he was "only" a three star recruit, and I think he got hurt his junior year of high school. He's a bit smaller than Stephens (5'11, 196 to 6'1, 206). Stephens was a four star and a top 100 recruit, so again, in my mind he would have step up in the battle. Beck has always struck me as a step slow. He's massive at 6'4, 242, but whenever I see him have to sprint for something, he moves very slowly. With Dwan in the lineup you already have that "big guy" to take on opposing large attackmen. It's very rare you see an attack lineup with two "monsters". I think he's good in those man-down situations, but I have trouble trusting him in the open field. D'Agostino is interesting. He rose from a three star when he initially committed to a four star. Of all the defensemen mentioned here, he's the smallest at only 5'10 but he's solid at 195 (according to his recruiting profile, the SU roster doesn't list his weight for some reason). He strikes me as the bulldog type. Certainly would be impressive for him if he grabbed a starting spot ahead of the upperclassmen. The SU defense is so unique with Figuerias and Dwan - both can guard an opposing team's number one attackman, it usually comes down to their body type. I think that means whoever grabs that third spot has to be good off ball and a good communicator. Should be an interesting battle and one that seems to have gotten more interesting after this weekend.
