Google Maps says the CMU football stadium is about 521 miles from the Syracuse metro area.  That is right about the same distance as Charlottesville (500 miles) and a little less than Blacksburg (576 miles).  Certainly drivable.
 
The best way to go is through Canada.  If you go that way, and you are a golfer, I recommend that you take a small detour off 401 near London Ontario and play a round at [URL='http://www.fcngolf.com/']Forest City National Golf Course[/URL].
 
Terrific course I played with my crew in 2004 on the way to the Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills.  Only bad thing I can say about the place is that the staff was all, and I mean all, actively rooting for Europe, and didn't have any problems showing we Americans how they felt about it.
 
That was the day the music died.  For me.  For Canada.  Great country, love the people there but I eye those Canadians warily now.
