Some for the first time ever.

People who invest alot of time to come to an Internet forum to discuss syracuse football with (mostly) total strangers, people who donate to the Athletic Dept because they love the program that much.

What does that mean for the other 45,000 people we are trying to get to come to games? Think they watched this to the end?

I don't need to even answer it.

I had work to do around the house so I turned it off in the third quarter and put my time to better use.

It's over. I just hope Coyle starts the search now, takes his time and finds the right guy for the job. I don't care if it deep sixes the recruiting class at this point.

So, do you show up for Clemson and BC? I'm thinking about giving my tickets away and maybe going into hibernation for next season and see what happens. I need a break from this.

I needed the advice of buzz shaw and got a life and raked leaves. At the end of the day it's entertainment.

Once that part of the show is gone I'm out. Thats life. I'm fortunate w ESPN3/iPad/etc to even see the game in Boston but at some point u can only take so much.

I'm shocked there are those who went through the GRob years without shutting the game off. I can remember a couple of times during those awful noon big east games of the week in 2007/2008 shutting it off thinking life is too short to watch this crap I'm going outside.

I've never turned a game off unless I absolutely had to leave like a kids game or something. Then I'd put it in the radio.

I have also never turned off a game unless I had something I couldn't get out of. I bleed orange football no matter what. Basketball is great but my heart is with football. Grob couldn't get me to change that and this stretch won't either. As always I'm fully committed to Syracuse football. It's never been the guy on the side lines. Its the players and uniforms behind him. If I don't go north to shut the cottage down for the season then I will be at the dome. Go orange

I think the point the poster was trying to make is that fans like you two are increasingly in the minority and that is not good. The 'diehard' core fanbase appears to be eroding

I did turn a game or two off during both The Maloney and Robinson years. I have been attending these games for 52 years. Enough is enough. I will not renew my tickets next year as it appears they will all be away anyways so it's good timing. No, I am not going next week or for BC. At my age, life is a little more valuable than to sit and watch a moronic coach and his assistants run the program into the dirt let a lone ruin a young man's health.

Mark Coyle ,if he has any credence as an AD must be seeing whats happening here. He may be inclined to go one more year and terminate Shafer after next year if there is no progress. I doubt there will be even with th e the new players coming into the program. By them Mark should have a short list in his desk with contact numbers. I'm guessing its already started with names and informal discussions. If he were to get rid of Shafer and his incompetent coaches to day he would need to find an outstanding coach who commands recruiting because a lot of the current commits would jump ship. Losing to high quality players like RW and Clark is crazy and the reasons can't make sense.

We have the #1 team in the nation coming into the Dome and it won't be a sellout. That should speak volumes.

No it shouldn't. I rarely see a sell out on TV anyplace.

But you don't see 40% of the stadium empty when it's a big opponent in town.

Unless we're talking about Duke or Kansas, but I'd prefer to only be compared to them in that other revenue generating sport.

Doesn't matter though. He won't be back. Coyle knows by now.

I didn't say we don't have an empty stadium. I was commenting on sell outs.

I'm not completely convinced a move is going to be made. Very likely could, but it's not 100%.

I've been attending/watching games since 1969. For the first time in forever I did not even tune in yesterday, although in Metro NY that may have been difficult anyway since no station listed the game (can't remember when that last happened vs a major opponent). Another sign of the times is that the NY Post, which used to pick all our games in its Th college article, only does now vs ranked opponents.
Net, "New York's College Team" is now almost totally irrelevant in the market that has the largest concentration of SU alums outside CNY.

I never turn games off, not even that Georgia Tech fiasco from a couple seasons ago. I still had it on yesterday but I started doing crossword puzzles as I was watching.

I had the game on and basically tuned it out in the 3rd quarter and surfed the web.

The Carrier Dome has sold out only once in its existence. The very first game against Miami of Ohio.

Untrue.

Tennessee was a sell out. I assume West Virginia in 87 was. There are others.

Plenty of tickets for WVU in 87 . Walk ups had no problems getting tickets. Tennessee was like 48 and change. Even the Miami game in what, 92 wasn't sold out. Strange I know.

I was at those games. They were not sold out. Neither was Penn St in 87, Florida, ND Etc. Only sellout was the opening game in the dome

I go to all the games and I have never seen an announced crowd at even 49,000 except for the very first game and it was 50,000. Of course, that won't ever happen again because of changes handicap seating.

Officially we have had 7 sellouts. Remember, it wasn't until this year that it was butts in the seats. It was tix sold then. 7 times when the official capacity was 50000, 1980-1997, we sold out and sold over 50000 tix. Three of those seven times were in 1980. Those 3 games remain the most tix sold. Miami Oh, Pitt, and Navy.
