Sitting at home with the flu and thinking how much worse I will feel if we don't beat Pitt.

Their Dline is poor and their corners are small (6-0 and 5-9). Pitt has given up 4.8 yards per carry and 9.7 per passing attempt. (SU 3.6 and 6 8, respectively.) We are probably the better defense.

Pitt's rushing attack is about 30 ypg worse than ours! While they can pass the ball a bit, they are no NCS and certainly not in our league.

Pitt is the least penalized team in the ACC (31 pg) and we are below average (60). Pitt has a positive turnover margin. In other words they won't beat themselves.

This is our best ACC match up this year. Pitt can only beat us if our Oline really plays poorly, which is certainly possible. Otherwise, the only way we lose is by beating ourselves.

If we bring our A game, we can win this by a couple of scores.

ALGO!

I'm guessing that Dungey is the reason we aren't the ACC's worst rushing attack.

That would be correct. Our O Line is inexperienced and not stong enough yet. Center play is a problem.

Looks like help is on the way. Until then, we have to bring our A Game every week.

I would love to know how many starting players Babers feels don't fit his system. I might be surprised at how high the number.

If this were just about any other program this team would be a sure fire bowl team and have 7-5 or 8-4 seasons. Because of our schedule we have to be a top 25 caliber team just to go bowling.

One of the things I like about this team...especially the OL...is that they are in shape and my hope is that continues to go as the season progresses as other teams start to wear and tire. As for Pitt...a must win in every way. I fully expect SU to come out firing and continue until the backups come in during the 4th quarter due to a sizable lead. Have to execute, block, catch and tackle today and hold on to the ball.

I would bet good money that Pat Narduzzi has put in a few phone calls to none other than Scott Shafer this last week..."Hey buddy, you know, I'm really sorry about that whole kiwi thing, but could you breakdown that piggyback blitz for me one more time?"

I hope your flu brings us good luck.

I think we roll today. Can’t believe I’m saying that about Pitt who we’ve beaten once in forever (by 1 point). But I think a lot of things come together against an opponent who has struggled for the most part.

Please let me be right for once.

Love to see Custis have a good game against his PA brethren. I think one of the WR's is going to have a great game today between Riley, Butler, Johnson or Custis. There will be a lot of focus on Ishmael and Phillips by Pitt.

Pitt still some really skilled athletes on the outside.. we need to limit the easy scores, too many of those last year. dont give the ball away on offense and we will be fine.

If Pitt blitzes DB wise they will shade to Ish and Erv thus one of the other WR's could be quite open. It's up to the OL and Dungey to seize this opportunity. Dungey will have to recognize quickly who to go too and if he chooses wisely and the 3rd option WR catches the ball all kinds of good things are going to happen offensively. As HCDB said, we NEED the young guys to step up.

Exactly, no 40+ yard plays given up for TD's, make them work. The DB's have to take their angles and tackle today.

Is it possible that Pitt may rush just 3 or 4 and drop the rest into coverage? Maybe some stunt or blitz every so often but just try to confuse the OL and Dungey? I haven't watched them this year and previously they haven't been a blitz type of team but they could game plan that in due to the inexperienced SU OL.

Gotta win this game.

I expect a high scoring game. Henderson and Weah can really make plays and Browne is starting to look comfortable. Might be a crazy day in the Done.

I cant read on how comfortable a QB looks when he is throwing to guys open by 15 yds multiple times.. they still ran for 2 yds a carry last week.. Rice gave up 370 to stan and 360 to Houston passing but those teams also ran well too..

Really would like to see Johnson catch 2-3 balls and get some confidence so we can get him in the open field..
Yes, start with a jet sweep and then get him some stuff out in space.

I think Johnson has a break out game

I hope so, but we have to be patient with him. He's going to be a key part of this offense in the upcoming years. Just not sure he's ready for all this now. As upper said, I do hope they give him a few plays to build up his confidence while also getting him out into space.

Its obvious that he has that "it". Cant wait for him to break out
