The top four Resume's coming into this weekend listed by Lunardi were for Wiscy, Cuse, Kansas, and Mich St. With Wiscy losing again, and our win at Pitt, we are now 8-0 against current projected tournament teams.

We might accidentally get that #1 overall seed..

Why wouldn't we get it in the east then? I'm confused.

I know Wisconsin lost today, but let's assume those were the top 4 of the S curve at year's end. Wisconsin would go to Indianapolis, Syracuse to NYC, Kansas to Memphis, TN, and Michigan St. would go out West. SU doesn't have to be #1 overall to get the East. They just have to avoid being the 4th #1 seed.

Where does Arizona fit into all of that? Surely they will be a 1, right?

We would be heading out West. Far away from New York.

Yeah it was kinda just a joke. I think that one year we got the #1 overall seed and went out west because the east region was being played in Cuse/Buffalo or something.

Have we ever been the #1 overall seed? I think the only times we were a 1 were in 2010 and 2012, no? 2012 we were in the east, and 2010 we were out west, but neither year we were the #1 seed overall

Wasn't the 2010 year out West when we got the #1 overall? That was the year we had like 6 BE teams in the top15 rankings, and we were hands down the #1 team in the country when the tournament started

2010 we were the 4th #1 seed. AO was hurt which probably cost us the third #1 vs. Duke. (There were 2 BE teams in the final top 15 for Pomeroy, with Gtown at 16. If you want to use top 4 seeds as a proxy for top 15 teams, the league did have 5) Kansas was the #1 overall seed that year. They finished the regular season 32-2. I know the board consensus seems to be that we were clearly the best team and would have won the title if AO got hurt, but I don't see it.

Ah damn that's right. We were projected #1 until that game against Georgetown I believe, that's when AO went down right? Damn. Well there goes my joke then, I can't even keep up with what happened in the past few years. I'm doomed, eventually I'm going to forget what year it was Melo came through hahahaha

Then I think two years later Kentucky beat us out for the #1 overall even though we had #1 SOS and RPI I believe

Here's how I see 2010. Even if AO hadn't been injured, we still lose the opening round of the BET to Georgetown while Duke wins the ACC so we remain the fourth #1 seed and go out West.

So nothing basically changes with the draw. As a result, with AO we beat Butler and K-State to get to the Final Four to face Michigan State. Northern Iowa still upsets Kansas, while Duke still makes it from the South and WVU still upsets Kentucky to get to the Final Four.

Duke wasn't the "best team" that year either. But if we beat MSU with a healthy AO, I firmly believe we beat Duke for the NC.

Cheers,
Neil

Let's not talk about seedlings for at least another month. A lot can happen in 13 games. Yes I'm confident. But stranger things have happened.

The NCAA cant put us in the east.
Teams aren't allowed to play on their home courts;)
For the sake of this thread someone needs to tell me if this is true. I have no idea what the rules are for seeding.

No, I believe it was Kansas. They were 32-2 and we were 29-4. Kentucky was 32-2 as well.

But we did go out west because we were unfairly placed behind Duke.

That was the year we had like 6 BE teams in the top15 rankings,

That was 2011. And in 2009 the BE had 3 #1 seeds. We were 3 seeds in both of those years. Our great years were in 2010 and 2012 when the BE was a bit down from the prior year.

And we were hands down the #1 team in the country when the tournament started

Never happened. In 2012, Kentucky was probably seen as the favourite, with us as the #2

That sounds about right -- we were out of the top 2 discussion either way. We should have been 3, but the committee decided to give that spot to Duke (totally unfairly and without any rational basis). I can only assume with AO around, they were still going with Duke in that 3 spot.

Yeah I remember being really worked up about this at the time. Our resume was clearly better. With the question of AO's health I guess it was a fair compromise but i wasn't happy

they also gave Duke the worst 2 and 3 seeds in Villanova and Baylor
