We will beat Tennessee

In a million years with a million chances, we might win a handful of times. I'm all in for the handful.
We need all that good mojo

What strikes me about the Vols is that thus far they have been a great shooting team.
I believe, as a team, they shoot around 38% from the 3.
In addition, they seem fundamentally sound...rebounding and a low number of fouls called against them.
Knecht and JordanJames are two 6'6" inch guys who make the Vols go...

Didn't look to see if there are any lines out there, but based on KP AdjEM, I expect it will be somewhere around 14. Upsets like that do happen from time to time, but infrequently.

If we can keep it within single digits throughout (or close to it), and have a push where we get to 6 or 8 with 4 minutes left, giving us a tad of hope, I will consider that a success for team chemistry.

If we are in the game with 5 minutes to go, I will be happy. I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think we will be. But this is college hoop and the Tenn kids might be out having a late night before our game. Or maybe we will shoot the lights out.

Our fans over there should know what to do

I do believe Tennessee is a rock solid team on both ends of the court and outclasses us in nearly all respects. But we have a better backcourt. A good defensive effort and huge games from Mintz and Starling is the only way we win this

We don’t have the better backcourt. You could argue that Judah might be the best guard though

We certainly do. Zeigler is awful and Vescovi is solid

Zeigler doesn’t even start.
Then it's Mashack you think is better than Starling and Judah? I actually like Mashack but come on. The transfer Gainey looks good but he is more of a wing

Judah has been fine. Starling has not been good to start the year. It’s ok to admit.

He certainly hasn't astounded with his efficiency and is still finding his footing but he's the most talented player on the roster and will be the most talented guard on the floor vs Tennessee

That's the hope. We play solid enough defense to contain them, win the turnover battle, and don't get crushed on the boards. If we do that, and if one or more of Williams/Taylor/Bell hits a bunch of threes, we can win.

If either Starling or Mintz finds their shooting stroke, that would do as well.

I think this is a game where either Starling or Mintz or both can get their defender into foul trouble and expose Tennessee's lack of depth. Considering their huge average margin of victory, they only have 8 guys averaging 10 minutes or more. They run essentially a 6 player rotation with two .5 rotation guys. They have 3 players who average more fouls than any of our starters. Foul trouble wouldn't be surprising.

If Mintz or Starling can get one of their starters into foul trouble, there is a big dropoff in quality.

Other points:

Knecht isn't a good three point shooter so far, but still has a green light. He's shooting .286 on 4.7 attempts a game.

Their best shooter by far so far is Gainey, shooting .444 on 6 shots per game.

James is also good, shooting a very high percentage on low attempts.

This Tennessee team isn't the juggernaut people are making it out to be. They have weaknesses that should be exploitable.

Are they better than Colgate?

Our defense is the problem though. I agree they are no juggernaut but they are a legit good team. The transfers Knecht and Gainey are playing very well. On face value I would expect them to hand us a beating but we've got a long-shot
