Run each region like an Olympic pool: make it a round-robin but play enough extra games to resolve any ties. The next week, have the Final Four but run it the same way. Other schools could be in other tournaments that would serve as bowl games. Imagine a Final Four of Syracuse, Ohio State, Kentucky and North Carolina. They each play eachother and if two teams wind up 2-1, they play a championship game. That would be so far beyond awesome you couldn't see awesome in the rearview mirror.
