That is a crap article on Ennis;

Well, the last time a freshman stepped onto the Carrier Dome court to immediately become a lead contributor was during the 2007-2008 season. Donte Greene and Johnny Flynn led the Orange on the floor –all the way to a 9-9 Big East record and a disappointing NIT Quarterfinals exit. Not exactly a successful campaign by the lofty Syracuse standards.

In fact, you’d have to go back 10 years, to the championship season of 2002-2003 to find a successful example of a freshman immediately producing during a successful season. And, let’s be fair, Carmelo Anthony and Gerry McNamara were not your average freshmen.

So the 2008 year is valid, but the 2003 year is not. Gotcha. Cherry picking statistics is not an argument.

The jury is out, of course, on Christmas and returning No. 4 shooting guard recruit, Michael Carter-Williams. Both struggled during their freshmen seasons, but are expected to have bigger roles this year.

MCW hardly "struggled". He was the 4th man on a top 5 team. He actually looked damn impressive during his time on the court and people were shouting for him to get into the NCAA tourney games.

He posted nothing about Tylers game, how he will have CJ Fair, Gbinije, Coleman, Cooney and Grant to get the ball to. And he says we will be loaded with depth while not mentioning we will only have Cooney and Gbinije(who might be a SF) in the backcourt.

I do feel though its tough for freshmen PG's to give a huge impact without seperior strength(Edelin), Superior second gear speed(Flynn), Super height(like 6'5 1/2 MCW) or Superior ball movement to get their guy off balence(Flynn, Dion).

It can take a while to develop that, hence the sophmore jump phenominon. Not sure Ennis will have any of those as a fresh. But he will have high IQ, defensive intensity, supporting cast to get the ball to, superior passing and court awareness, and a pretty nice jumpshot even as a fresh. Hes a hard worker on the court with a sense of scrappyness.
