3 Star Safety Jay Stocker Will Visit Campus This Weekend (PS; Mink)

Syracuse's in-person recruiting contact is currently limited to on-campus visits, per NCAA rules, but the school is set to host a top-rated safety from southeastern Pennsylvania this weekend.

Jay Stocker, a three-star safety from Coatesville High School, is scheduled to take an unofficial visit to Syracuse and observe Sunday's practice.

"From my prior knowledge, I think it's a good school," Stocker said Monday night by phone, "but I'm going to go take a visit and have a better understanding of the school."

Stocker is not close to making a decision, and he said he is also planning to visit Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Temple in the future. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has previously visited Princeton and Penn State and holds offers from Indiana, Purdue and Wisconsin, among others.

Syracuse Using NYS Shaped Recruiting Letters (CollegeSpun.com; Lombardi)

The battle to be considered the most popular collegiate athletics program in both New York state and New York City is far from over, and Syracuse University is still doing its best to back up it’s self-titled “New York’s College Team” claim. Today, we’re seeing yet another marketing ploy that the Orange is using to remind recruits where SU is located.

NCAA Method Says Syracuse Football Has 8th Toughest Schedule in 2014 (PS; Mink)

If Syracuse hopes to improve upon the 7-6 record it posted in Scott Shafer's first season, it will have to do so navigating the nation's eighth-toughest schedule.

The complete list was released Tuesday. It is determined by the opponents' win-loss records from the previous season.

Virginia is the only ACC school with a more difficult schedule, using the NCAA's method.

Halfway Through Spring Football, Injuries Accumulating on Offensive Unit But 'Nothing Major' to Date (PS; Mink)

With seven of 15 NCAA-allotted practices in the books, a few storylines are starting to develop. As is the case with every team, the typical bumps and bruises that materialize throughout a football season have started to hit as well.

"Offensively we lost a lot of guys," defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough said. "Defensively, we haven't. We've been good. Knock on wood."

Shafer said the offensive line has been impacted by injuries, but he did not name any names. He did say, however, that none of the injuries are considered serious. Right guard Nick Robinson (foot) was the only previously announced injury on the offensive line.

"We're banged up, but nothing major right now, things I think we can overcome right now," Shafer said. "We'll have a few kids continue to see the doctors and that sort of thing, but banged up on the offensive line a little bit, hoping to get a couple of those guys back, but you take it day by day."

Let's Buy Some SU Football Season Tickets for Disadvantaged Kids (TNIIAM; Keeley)

As the off-season approaches, it seemed like a pretty good time to re-approach the learnings from #CuseTixForKids and see if we can pick up where we left off before the 2014 Syracuse Orange football season.

As I mentioned when it was all over, my biggest learnings were that...

1. It was worth it.

2. The more we can control it, the better it will be.

My idea for the 2014 season is thus:

Let's buy a bunch of Syracuse Football season tickets and provide them to charities and those in need on a game-by-game basis.
