SU Gets Verbal From DE Anthony Guidice (PS; Mink)

Syracuse picked up a verbal commitment from defensive end Anthony Giudice on Tuesday.
Giudice is the 10th member of the 2015 recruiting class and is the second defensive lineman.

A 6-foot-2, 243-pounder from Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut, Giudice is not rated by any of the major recruiting services.

The Curious Case of SU Recruit Frank Battle, Who Waited Too Long and Lost SU Offer? (PS; Bailey)

Frank Battle flew up to Syracuse this weekend for an unofficial visit. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound receiver from Belen Jesuit Prep (Miami, Fla.) High School toured campus with former SU linebacker Siriki Diabate, sat down with starting safety Durell Eskridge and walked through the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center.

He met with tight ends coach Bobby Acosta, who told him he would play the 'Y' position if he came — a tight end/wide receiver hybrid, as well as offensive coordinator George McDonald and head coach Scott Shafer.

"We pretty much came to the decision to commit, give a verbal commitment, Syracuse is my best school right now and has the most to offer," Battle said.

But he never got the chance. McDonald called Stuart that morning to tell him that another player had committed Sunday night.

4 Orangemen Named to Athlon All ACC Team (PS; Bailey)

After landing five players on Phil Steele's All-ACC teams last week, Syracuse placed four on Athlon Sports' listings on Tuesday.

Left tackle Sean Hickey was named to the second team, behind Florida State's Bobby Hart. Outside linebacker Dyshawn Davis and safety Durell Eskridge were also slotted on the second team, while outside linebacker Cameron Lynch was named to the third team.

Kicker Ross Krautman is the only Orange player listed by Phil Steele that was not included in Athlon Sports' teams. He made 3-of-4 field goals and 13-of-14 extra points last season before suffering a season-ending hip-related injury

Possible Syracuse snubs include punter Riley Dixon, who was edged out by Virginia's Alec Vozenilek on the fourth team, and quarterback Terrel Hunt, who was beat out by Clemson first-year starter Cole Stoudt.

What if Syracuse Was Placed in the ACC Coastal Division Instead? (TNIAAM; Cassillo)

...
Agreed, Bud. What if Syracuse was in the ACC's Coastal division?

Unfortunately, we can't really measure the long-term ramifications yet, but in the short-term, you can see the intriguing possibilities. While we trade away assured losses to Florida State and Clemson, unfortunately, we also have to give up on some "easier" games against squads like Wake Forest, NC State, Boston College and (only last year) Maryland. But again, does that necessarily mean we'll be "worse" off?

No divisions and we don't have to wonder if SU would have done better in any other division.
