Former SU Star Rob Konrad Treated for Hypothermia After 10-12 Hours Swimming for His Life (cnycentral.com; Benny)
*Robert Konrad is out of the hospital, but has told local reporters in Florida he does not want to talk about what happened.
*The U.S. Coast Guard says Konrad was in the water for 10-12 hours and was showing signs of hypothermia when he was found this morning.
*Konrad's friends called for help when he did not return from a fishing trip last night. He was found at 4:40 a.m. Thursday - on a beach.
Our earlier coverage:
Former Syracuse University fullback and former Miami Dolphin Robert Konrad survived falling off a fishing boat, and an incredible swim to shore in Palm Beach, Florida.
WPBF-TV reports Konrad fell off a fishing boat Wednesday night. He was in the water for at as long as 12 hours, and managed to swim to shore.
The station, which has been in contact with the Coast Guard, says Konrad was fishing offshore when he somehow fell off his boat. The boat was on autopilot and drifted away from him.

Surgery, Stint at Milford Gives Streling Lowry of Nottingham a Shot at College Football (PS; Weidner)
Sterling Lowry couldn’t have felt much worse.
The senior quarterback/cornerback was ready to lead the Nottingham Bulldogs into the 2013 football season with a returning cast of veterans and high hopes of defending their Class A sectional championship.
But in a pre-season scrimmage in late August against New Hartford, Lowry went down with a knee injury. It would turn out to be torn ligaments and require surgery that would sideline the Division I prospect for the year.
“It was bad,” he said of the trip to the hospital in the back of Nottingham coach Nick Patterson’s car. “I’m just crying. I felt like I let my team down.”
Worse than pain, he said, was the sense of opportunity lost.
“What hurt so bad was that we had huge expectations,” he said.
