The rumor mill at the time said there was a whole pedophile ring in State College and that Second Mile was just a front for it / enabling mechanism.
 
The sheer magnitude of this whole thing, which over the years probably involved politicians, big donors to PSU and 2nd Mile and other "big shots" probably caused it to be kept on the QT by Pedterno and others at PedSt because this was part of their "cash cow". Follow the money. If current politicans, judges and administrators allow for this whole thing to be opened up, there are probably a lot of people still alive that will go down. I find it disheartening that the judge in that article is encouraging those other kids to settle with that pedophile. Screw that, take them to court, get 'em hung and then sue in a civil court.
 
The article says Foglietta died in 1998. How effin ironic is that? Was it before or after Sandusky was accused and investigated? Wow.
 
I started to read that and just stopped... I'm just totally speechless at how wide spread this was and organized. This wasn't just one man / monster but just a part of something larger.. I'm just lost for words right now and can't imagine how anyone could do something this horrendous.

Toga, I hate to agree with you on something as icky to think about as this, but I kind of agree. Just the whole thing of all their coaches showering together after practice every day, that's just kind of creepy. I mean, I played 5 years of football and was active in athletics from middle school until my junior year of college, and yes, players all shower and change together, but I didn't have any coaches do that, in any sport.

Thought that was shocking as well. If two sides settle (in any case) that's fine, but why would a judge be pushing that, particularly in a case where it appears many facts remain unknown? Odd ... and the whole thing is disgusting, of course.

hopefully at some point, the blind penn staters will realize there was a serious problem there and joepa was sort of an enabler.

Alot of casual Penn State fans (non alum) have really distanced themselves from the team.

I work with 2 alums; 1 has always been disgusted by the football program due to seeing the player behavior that got covered up when he was on campus and the other is still a die hard fan but thinks that football should've been shut down entirely for at least 2 years.

It is staggering. Although, unfortunately, human history has revealed many atrocious acts against humanity...or the inhumanity of man.

I'm sure they'll be keeping a close eye on the upcoming trials. Which, given the right revelations , could turn into charges against Spanier as well. I believe Schulz and Curley head to court in January.
