We put a ton more pressure on USC's d than Stanford is. However their D is light years better than ours. I know a lot of people love Schafer but I think its crazy that in year 4 we look like kids against an FBS team. Also too many big plays... 10 out of 15 tds against were from drives less than 4 plays. We need to fix this or it will sink our season.

We also don't have Stephon Taylor... Wow

Shafer is way over-rated.

or maybe underrated if the talent is not as good as we want it to be,

I take it back... USC's d is gonzo. Gus said it best, all those body shots took their toll at the end. I must be nice to have 4 and 5 star olinemen like Stanford has been getting lately.

Btw Doug, see what Stanford with a toss play on 3rd and 1 against a stacked line? Take some notes

its not an excuse its a fact, and has been for the better part of the last 10 years . SU has less talent.

and USC losing its center has really cause them issues today..

In year 4 it's his talent... That excuse is gone now.

Wrong. If you think anyone - meaning anyone, not necessarily Marrone - could recruit the quality and quantity of talent required to rebuild this program from where it was in only 4 years, then please share whatever it is you are smoking.

Sometimes I think that there are fans out there that don't realize what a disaster we were.

Yet at the time it was happening everyone seemed to be aware.

Just so I'm clear i am crazy for thinking that in 4 years it is unfair for us to expect the coaches to recruit enough talent so that we aren't overpowered at the line of attack by a D2 team? Gotcha.

In 4 years those kids buying in aren't front line guys...this ain't hoops.

So we don't have frontline players in year 4, our QB is a grob guy, our two best receivers are grob era recruits, we don't have a gamebreaker at rb, our linebackers have sucked since smith and hogue, two grob recruits, graduated, our oline is very sketchy... So who have we been recruiting?

Anyone here ever been on the Stanford campus/Palo Alto area. Anyone here familiar with their coach. Anyone here know about who the past/present student body. SU football is making steady progress, and I like living here, but I wouldn't try to compare SU and Stanford
