Yeah, this is tough to watch, but we are going to be really good next year. Dungey is a program changer and we have enough skill players for this offense to be very good - 35+ ppg good.

We are running only 2/3 to 3/4 of the plays we ran last year and are scoring more points. The defense sucks with all these freshmen, but they are improving. Next year they could be very solid and really special over the next few years.

We had better talent on the field today than 25th ranked Pitt.

Forget this season - next year we will rock this conference.
That is all.

Everyone that watches Dungey states he is a program changer. I've not been this ecstatic about a QB in a very long time. We are young, we are learning, but it will click and we will be a beast of a team.

If you're an SU fan, how can you not be excited about Dungey. The one thing that is disconcerting though is his apparent no fear attitude. That hit he took on the first play of the second half I'm sure had all of us holding our breath. I counted 3 Mississippi on the replay...yikes. If he were to sustain another concussion this season, and one next...he gone. :(

If we get any sort of defense...yes. We will be good next year. I feel completely confident in our offensive skill players, assuming they all stay healthy. And I know there's a lot of positive feelings toward our young OL guys as well.

Love the optimism but with this staff I'm not sure anymore.

What today made you think we weren't close?

Agree on O...not sold on our D. There is youth there, but I am not seeing any play makers outside of Cordy. Even RT has been a big disappointment this year. He has his sack per game (not today)...but is invisible most of the game.

Bennett is decent, but Franklin is never where you need him to be on running plays.

Secondary is a mess, outside of Cordy (who has issues with taller receivers in coverage). Hudson/Dowels are an upgrade over Whigham, though.

DLine? Most forgettable group of the defense.

They'll get there. The talent is fine. Moving Whigham was a good move.

I trust the D coaches. That's why I think we'll get another year of Shafer.

This team is a couple of O- lineman and a quality secondary away from being on the cusp of the top 25.

However, I'm not sure Shaffer makes it another year to prove it out. You have to have a lot of faith in his ability if you let him win a combined 6 or 7 wins over two years.

I think the bigger question might be, can this staff help this team reach it's potential. That's the real question IMO. We have talent which is obvious at certain points this year. I care more that we get the most out of the talent and coaches are playing an integral part in that development.

I love Dungey but he will be very lucky to make it for three more years if things go the way they are going now with him being hit.

We say that every year. 6-6 next season is probably the bar at this point.

A couple easy games, a couple hard games, a bunch of toss ups to round it out.

Slayton, Samuels, Clark and Sheppard are going to be solid for years. This defense is going to be good for a long time.

We gotta keep the recruiting class in tact too. Given the time, Shaf will be good.

I am a little worried about the O- line next year though. We gotta get to a spot where we are a good in all facets at the same time, and that comes with good, solid recruiting every year which is what coaching staff continuity gives you.

Dungey is a leader. Check out the players pressers.

They may be solid for years. Not so much this year. Again, i'm sold on the future with the O. Not buying any promise of great things in this D's future, though.

I know he got blasted and seemed to be knocked out again, but an I the only one who noticed his improvement in remaining in the pocket, not taking unnecessary hits, and when running, just taking what the defense gave him? I thought it looked obvious that he worked on that this last week.
