I'm sad that Alabama got it's upteenth national championship, (the exact number is controversial but it's a lot) rather than the ACC's Clemson getting their second title. But that was the greatest game in college football since the Vince Young game. Young had 467 total yards in that game. Watson had 478 in this one. But Henry rushed for 158 yards and 3 scores and O. J. Howard caught 5 passes for 208 yards and 2 scores and Kenyon Drake went 95 yards with that kick-off. The game wasn't lost: it was won and there were no serious controversies. I just wished the Tigers hadn't missed a couple of tackles that might have made the difference. But this is how the college football season should end.

Yeah, it was a great game. Was definitely rooting for Clemson and the ACC. I felt that Clemson was the better team, but they just made too many mistakes which allowed huge plays for Bama. The interception in the 2Q, when Clemson was up 14-7 and driving. That costed them 7 points as Bama scored off that pick. The kick off return for a TD in the 4th, another Clemson breakdown. As was the back breaker long gainer on 2 & 13 late in the 4th (38-33) on a play that should've gone for a loss or no gain if Clemson makes that tackle. I don't recall Bama having any turnovers. Got to give Saban credit for gambling a bit on that critical on side kick...

the onside kick was somewhat controversial but it wasnt really even talked about in the broadcast. surprised the refs didnt really even let him discuss it

What was so controversial? I know Dabo was upset and arguing with the refs, but the broadcasters really didn't explain why. Only that the kick went 15 yards, and 10 was the threshold.

Dabo was also quite upset at the end of the first half, and rightfully so as the refs blew it. Clemson got a first down with 14 seconds left, clock should have stopped temporarily as it always does. Clemson had to call their last time out, instead of being able to run another play that may have got them a bit closer to kick that field goal prior to the half...which they missed. :(

It looked like the guy at the top of the screen who ended up recovering the onside kick may have been a little ahead of the kicker and offsides. If not, it was pretty close and Dabo was screaming for a flag or at least for it to be reviewed. It's probably not reviewable as you can't call a penalty after the fact but damn that's a huge call.

since the ball was not kicked off the ground the offense has to be given a clear chance to catch it.. thats what DABO was complaining about . i dont think the clemson kid could have gotten there but until it touches the ground maybe he makes some crazy dive?

Clemson knows it's not reviewable.

i dont think they want it reviewed they want it explained. the ref clearly told Dabo his team did not have a right to catch the ball.

Just make every play reviewable already. You don't want to review every play. But if a play is controversial it should be reviewed. This, it's not reviewable, for a crucial play is nonsense.

fun game to watch when you don't have a stake in who wins. equal on offense.equal on defense. bama's STs superior.

Who knew that there was a rule that you have to kick the ball where the other team could catch it? That's like saying a quarterback must throw a ball where it could be intercepted.

Watson was amazing, I thought he was a good QB during the season but he was amazing against 'bama. He threw a good ball, the best was probably the fade to the corner of the end zone that the 'bama CB got his arm in on and knocked it loose. Great throw.

He also is in great shape, the dude was constantly in motion and it did not seem to affect his ability to throw accurately. I can think of just one pass, toward the very end of the game, where he threw a completely uncatchable ball. He also appeared to be bothered by the leg that had the brace on it.

I hate that Clemson lost and I especially hated the way Saban appeared to be rewarded for his play calling by the announcers when noone on Clemson was given similar props. Am I recalling that incorrectly? I just recall the announcers saying "Great call by Saban" but nothing like that said of Dabo or his staff.

When Clemson played SCAR last year, Clemson ran the exact same onsides kick and recovered it. The refs overturned the play and gave the ball back to SCAR, saying that the receiving team had to be given an opportunity to field the ball first. Swinney was livid because of having the same play reversed last year.
