Wes Johnson: Pelicans Studio Analyst

I turned into the Jazz vs. Pelicans game tonight and Wes Johnson pops up on my screen as the Studio Analyst for the Pelicans. This bio says that it's his second season doing TV for the Pelicans. So, Cuse is well represented in NO with him and Hop and I think Troy Weaver is still their Senior VP of Basketball Operations.

Lots of people have talked about that 2010 Wes Johnson team with the hiring of AO on Gerry's staff. Like many, Wes was one of my favorite Cuse players ever and that team was so solid. So Wes might have been a Newhouse student.

Wes left for the NBA after his junior year. Wonder if he returned to get his degree at SU or out west during or after his NBA career?

Yep. He does a show with my friend Erin.

The best player that ever transferred into Syracuse. I think quite easily.
For a long time it was Leo Rautins. He was really good and would have had a much better and longer career if not for a lot of injuries and surgeries. Wes is one of my all-time time favorites, but Leo was a special player as well.

We were certainly fortunate to have had Andy at SU because of Leo too.

Here is one for people to watch. Jen Hale used to be one of my favorite NBA sidelines reporter for NO, but your friend must have slid into her role. Good for her.

Wes did really well with this.

I just noticed, he’s got more than a passing resemblance to John Legend.

I’d also list him as the most impactful transfer we’ve had -
But I didn’t see Leo Rautins play.

LeRon Ellis & Ryan Blackwell are the 2 “earlier” impact transfer I saw play.
Shoutout to Jason Cipolla!

Also - Silent G & Eli Hughes.

SwiderMan was a very good player on a meh team.

And I shudder to think how turrible we would’ve been had we not gotten Uncle Drew & John Gillon.
That team had a few UUUUGE upset W’s.

And some had thought that Ethan Cole would become an all-time great. Well, maybe one person thought that.
