7 of the Elite 8 are West of the Mississippi. Only Mich is not. I smell a conspiracy. Had to be rigged. Let’s go to court. Oh wait that’s for elections.

I think a couple of years ago, the Pac12 only got one team into the NCAA tournament.

Good for them.

It has been a surprising year in a lot of ways.

No teams for the New (And Dimished) Big East.

No teams for the ACC.

1 Team for the B12.

1 Team (Barely) for the SEC.

1 Team for the B1G.

1 Team for the American.

1 Team for the WCC

and 3 for the PAC12.

So, after seeing all the success the PAC12 is having, are we willing to ease off of Hop and how his squad did in conference this year? Maybe just a tad?

Love Hop, but Washington was terrible. The ACC had 2 teams in the sweet 16, us being one, so should we have done better during ACC play?

Yes, but that's a completely different issue. The PAC12 has 3 of the 8 teams in the Elite 8 and the ACC has 0. Hop had a rough year, but with the overall strength of the conference, it's just a teeny bit more understandable.

Can’t use the tourney as the barometer of conf strength. Oregon State was horrible most of the year. But they can muck it up in the tourney and now appear pretty good.

They won 5 games total

I think Hop is going to have to get to the Dance next season to keep his job. On an aside, it looks like USC hired the right guy in Enfield (over bridesmaid Hop) with this run to the Elite 8.

Enfield also hired the right father of two of the top recruits in the country. Completely legal by NCAA rules but really a dirty way to secure the best talent. At least Mr Mobley was an AAU coach but you are essentially paying money legally to secure recruits. I hope Gonzaga blows their doors off.

I think if you look at the path for the Pac 12 teams it really worked out for them. Sometimes it's funny how things play out. I mean in our case we had to beat three teams all fairly well built to deal with us and we got past 2.

UCLA had a bipolar MSU team up first , a offensive minded BYU team then a tiny 14 seed followed by a really good Bama team that shot themselves in the foot.

USC got a Drake team who somehow survived Wichita State but overall was by far the weakest 11 seed, then gets a KU team coming in off a pause/CoVid issues and then gets a conference foe that they know well and have a size advantage. Add to that Oregon itself only played one game vs an awful Iow defense to get to the Sweet 16.

Oregon State is by the far the biggest Success story with the most difficult path to get where they are now. So really you have a very fortuitous setup for 2/3 remaining Pac 12 teams. In no way does that eliminate the fact that they were underrated but none of them traversed a path like we did to the Sweet 16 for instance.
