It's a contract dispute with Nexstar, which owns local affiliate stations in a number of markets. It's not ABC in every market, although it is in the Syracuse market. Will the Watch ESPN app work or do they blackout locally available broadcasts? The CBS affiliate in Buffalo is another one of the stations affected and I was able to watch the Bills game through the NFL app for free with no issues, despite having to login with my Verizon account.

Get an over-the-air antenna, if you live a reasonable distance from your ABC affiliate.
