There was nothing in his background or the team's performance to indicate that he had a master of X's and O's, that he was coveted by other teams, or that he excelled at teaching the game.  Quite the contrary, in fact -- given the product we were seeing on the court.  These should have been red flags, given that Red was one of the architects of the program's slippage over Boeheim's final years.

But alas, all of that was ignored due to overreach from certain BoT members and donors, who valued relational considerations over what was best for the program, and steered the search to an unqualified candidate.

Hopefully, he can step away and have the negative sentiment die down, and that eventually the fanbase will come to view him favorably again.

But this was destined to fail from the beginning.  It's really too bad.
