Do we still even join this conference or beg and plead to get into the Big Ten. Even if FSU and Clemson leave the ACC still has a decent football conference, but who knows. Where is the Pac 10 in all of this?

We are going to the ACC and it will be fine with or without FSU / Clemson. Time will tell, but the ACC could really be the winner of it all one day. The ACC just has been down the last 10 years or so but they will cycle up again soon. The FSU President sounds like he is a smart guy unlike their out going BOT Chair who released another statement today and is on CBS Sports.

This is a good question even though some will think silly. However, my cudos to you Orangefan1...here is a what if:
The Pac 10/12 is going to need to expand to reach 16. If it is not raiding the Big 12 where might it go. Well there is a history/example already out there in the big football sky called the BE which has now included teams from the far west...what happens if the Pac 10/12 needs to expand and must go far east. Maybe if this whole ACC thing blows up and the Big 12 survives, 'Cuse ends in the Pac 16 with 3 other major eastern universities. Silly isnt it...but perhaps as we know the truth can be ODD indeed!

I mean with Dr. Gross joining the Pac 10 is possible. We are playing USC anyways lol.

Not responding sarcastically...took your question and ran with what in today's blogging environment you may be right on!

If the ACC blows up there will be teams left over that are in the same boat as SU. I would imagine we will stick together some sort of league with them and teams from the BE like UConn, RU and L'ville. So at this point I think it is the ACC for better or worse. Lets just hope for the better.

You know there was a reason we left the Big East. One biggie for me was not to play those damn teams anymore. I also think that is part why our attendance stinks. Nobody cares about watching us vs Uconn in the dome. I had always felt that the Big Ten was the better decision. When CIL openly discussed this with all of us years ago and he said ACC my heart sunk, because I felt the Big Ten was a more secure conference then and now. It could be that the Big 12 is a lot weaker than people think. It will still be fun to play Duke and Carolina every year in bball, but I really want football to get a lot better now. Its overdue...we all have been patient.

Two words:

Patriot. League.

In fact we should probably just join now, lest we get left out in the competitve rush to join later.

Invest in kitty litter, because cats and dogs will be living together.

Well we could join the NFC East, or join arms with the University of Toronto to form the foundations of a new truly-super international conference spanning the entire Great White North!

When you start to see these bloggers who started all the rumors backtracking and hedging (and it has begun somewhat already), that's when you will know for sure that this is over. The Big12 could still decide at their meeting to continue with this propoganda campaign as an attempt at one final sucker punch, but more likely is that they all look at each other and say, "Well, we tried. We still have a pretty good deal for our little league and have remained a major player despite being decimated with defections and installing less than desirable replacements. We whipped up the national media into a pretty good frenzy and created enough buzz to get the non-thinking fans and school officials grabbing for their torches and pitchforks but it just wasn't enough. Now, Texas...tell us what to do next."

Can you just insert WVU or WVU "dude" into that paragraph to make it complete? LOL WVU fans were a big part of really stirring the rumor mill up on the other boards.

BLUF: If the ACC lost 2-6 teams we would still be in a better situation than being stuck in the Big East. I really doubt the ACC gets raided...but if we do I see FSU or Clemson.

The biggest thing they (B12) won was the media perception battle for now: The media is running with the term: "Big Four"...this is where the ACC Flagships need to get it together. The ACC needs FSU/VT + one other school this year to hang out in the Top 10-15...and hopefully one can get hot and hang in the Top 3-4 most of the season.

Which conference is better?

Syracuse
Boston College
Miami
Virginia Tech
Pittsburgh
Wake Forest
North Carolina
Duke
Virginia
Maryland
Georgia Tech
NC State

or

Syracuse
Boston College
Miami
Virginia Tech
Pittsburgh
West Virginia
Temple
Rutgers

So ACC 2013 even without FSU and Clemson, or Big East pre-ACC raid?

I'll take the ACC, not even close. Trading WVU, Rutgers, and Temple for UNC, NC State, Maryland, Virginia, GT, Wake, Duke - no brainer.

And now compare to:

Rutgers
Temple
Cincinnati*
Louisville*
Memphis*
South Florida*
Central Florida*
UConn*
Houston*
SMU*
Boise State*
Navy*
San Diego State*

(* Denotes teams that were C-USA, Mountain West, WAC, not 1-A at time of first ACC raid)

Again, not even close.

I'm sorry but this is a bad post.

Groundless and purposeless.

I agree.

I don't want to play Rutgers or UConn or some of the others.

Why does the PAC 12 need to expand? For the sake of fulfilling some 16 team prophesy?

And even if the ACC loses FSU and Clemson (unlikely) they still have 12 teams. Who's going to get poached? NCSU and UNC are linked. Ditto with Uva and VT. Miami just said they were happy. UMd MIGHT go to the B1G but I don't see that invite coming.

But we're talking about the ACC falling apart, so the whole premise is pretty extreme.

Yeah it is funny. They went from announcement to be made next few days to June 18th that FSU coming to nothing will be done till after the B12 meetings are over to nothing will be done until the new commish starts in July to nothing will be done until the playoffs are determined to Texas wants to stay at 10 but FSU would come if Texas wanted them.
