play not to lose. Perfect example is last night's Clemson-ND game. Clemson should have lost that game - period. Watch the whole thing - I'm not an expert but Dabo changed the tempo of his offense and stopped playing to win and went into a run/stall game in the 3rd quarter!!! While weather conditions were a factor, 21-3 was not the time to stall given NDs comeback ability in other games they played.

While I don't like the no defense teams in the Big12, they don't change their tempo (here is where I agree with Millhouse) and they keep pouring it on. What I liked most about the LSU game - we allowed the players to play and Lester/Shafer just let them go all out. Heck we had 4 - 4th down plays. I really don't care what offense we play, just don't change it cause you cause the team to lose their mojo. I even hate it when JB starts it too early.

What do we have with Lester/Shafer moving forward? With 2 capable QBs in the stable to propel the offense, will we play more like we did in the LSU 2nd half or more like the CMU 2nd half? I hope someone gets in the head of Lester/Shafer and keep playing to win and not play to lose like Clemson did last night.

Agree. It seems to me it started either after the interception or after they got the FG on the next possession. But the Clemson tempo did indeed change. The announcers commented about it around the middle of the 4th quarter, I think.

Cheers,
Neil

I never understood the "should of" thought process. It's not rational. Should of lost based on what, a change in tactic? The last 8 minutes or so of the game? In that case, ND should have lost because of the first 8 minutes of the game. Mind you, we won a game with the same tactic. It worked. Who's to say that if we started slinging it around, we wouldn't have had a slew of turnovers, maybe one or two returned for TD's. With the weather and up by 18, it wasn't a bad tactic to play stall-ball.
