how much of the lackluster effort is due to JBs absence? I say quite a bit. And I agree that SJU and Clemson would be flipped if he were on the sidelines, I just think Pitt has his number too often lately to reverse that outcome.

I'm not sure if this is totally fair. Every team has its slumps and funks during a season (especially one with some weakneses of note), so I don't want to throw the whole record on Hopkins. I think we would have been 5-4 or 6-3 with JB but that is just a guess. JB is not impervious to slumps, and other than Atlantis (which admittedly is a big thing to ignore) we were a bit shaky before JB left (Wisconsin, Margin of Victory was so so)
