To the defense? I mean, we couldn't tackle a Section 3 JV player the first 5 weeks. The DB's broke on the ball, the hitting was hard, and we even managed a pass rush today. I saw heady football plays with Williams breaking off his man for an INT and then attacking the ball for a strip on Evans. The special teams flew to the ball as well, best coverage I have seen in years. They made their mistakes, but overall they played sound defense. Did it appear that we brought more pressure today than normal? Maybe that helped, who knows. Very pleased with the effort.

P.S. Why punt to Estime? Dude is a beast returner!

Go CUSE!

Starting to play, and not think about what to do before making the play.

I only saw the first half but thought the defense had a different vibe today, I dont know what clicked but lets hope it continues!

I think another thing that has happened is less of Whitner/Scissum and more of Ellison/Williams. Might not be optimal size for the defense Ward wants to play, but Ellison & Williams are much better football players.

Missed some good stuff...

when you dont give up huge plays and make them drive the field you have chances to stop them.. a few got over thrown and the D stepped it up big time , so many fewer missed tackles.

Pickard did a pre-game interview (link below) in which he basically says that the defense is so much more mentally ready than week 1.
It sounds like their ability to read offenses and react is light years ahead of earlier this season.
