Yes, they are. My bad. Was thinking Orange but misspelled it as S-U-G-A-R. While most projections have Clemson in the Orange Bowl I'm not sure things will work out that way. Based on current BCS Standings and assuming no upsets in league championship games there are 8 automatic qualifiers for a BCS Bowl. Six conference champions: 1. Florida State (ACC) 2. Ohio State (Big 10) 3. Auburn (SEC) 4. Oklahoma State (Big 12) 5. Stanford (Pac 12) 6. UCF (AAC) 7. Northern Illinois (Top 16 BCS and ranked higher than an AQ Champion (UCF) 8. Alabama (At large Top 4 with no rep in NC game) That leaves 2 slots from among Baylor, Michigan St, Clemson and Oregon or Arizona St. to round out the ten BCS spots. Bowls that have ties with conferences selected to play in National Championship game fill their spots next with Number 1 going first so Orange Bowl has first choice. Hard to believe they wouldn't take Alabama. Rose Bowl picks next needing a team to pair with Stanford. Tradition and ranking make this a lock for Michigan State leaving one open non-AQ spot. Orange Bowl then gets the next choice. Possibilities are UCF, Northern Illinois, Baylor / Arizona St., Clemson, and Oregon. To me this comes down to Oregon or Clemson and I've got to think the combination of Nike influence and national appeal might cause the Orange to go for the Ducks. Last two BCS spots have to go to UCF and Northern Illinois (Rose is filled) and Clemson goes to Atlanta. I know virtually all expert projections say otherwise but to me this is not an unrealistic scenario that would knock all ACC teams down a rung and further muddy the picture for Cuse.
