We all know he is a rare talent, and he has come out of the gate extremely strong in both total yards and TD’s. What I am wondering is will his ability and success result in fewer penalties called on the offense in the future? As I have stated in other posts, I am not an expert, but it dawned on me that we could begin to see a few things happen because he is so good:

  1. Referees know he is good and they begin to choke on whistles on maybe questionable calls.
  2. Referees know how good he is and the publicity from his exploits causes them to be more lenient since they may wind up on replays looking foolish if they make an atrocious call.
  3. Our O line is more relaxed because they know what they have behind them, and we begin to see fewer false starts and holds.
Has/does this type of thing happen with high level talent, and not only at running back?

Now that we are in to the conference season, I expect more holds on long runs.

Actually I expect the ACC officials to call less penalties on us. With how bad the top teams have been, they need Tucker to excell, to get some good publicity.
And remember it's all about the money, and without good publicity you lose money.

I don’t think referees consciously think this way. So no, there is no correlation.
What I do believe happens, however, is that certain teams get a reputation for more fouls, so referees know this, and watch for it from those teams more. Like a player who is a hot head. He will almost always be one the potential problems referees discuss in their pregame. (Yes, refs have pregames too.)

I think the box will be stacked against Mr Tucker as we enter the ACC play. I saw Dillon at BC get beat up by the amt of guys in the box and the amount of times he was called upon to make things happen.

I still wish we would add some stuff under center esp on short yardage situations. You have a qb who is a tough SOB. why wouldn't you want him starting at the line of scrimmage on goal line, short yardage scenarios.

exactly my point. we will at some point need a passing attack . DC's ain't stoopid. they watch tape and they will make the QB beat them with his arm . will that be devito or the shredder? dino's dilemma.
