They have these Tiger Tour things for Alumni and supporters every Thursday during the season in various cities (Shreveport is this week). Cocktail receptions and silent auctions that cost like $30 for a ticket (cash bar), and then donations are courted throughout the evening as well as ticket sales and promotions, and profits from the auction and event go to the schools football fund -- could you imagine Syracuse doing these during the season? What a great way to get out to different alumni bases and present them opportunities to mingle with university dignitaries and have a chance to win some great memorabilia! Buffalo, Rochester, Binghamton, Syracuse (on parents weekend and homecoming week), Albany, NYC, Boston, Newark, Philly, Baltimore, DC, Tampa, LA, Chicago, and finish the season off back in Syracuse in prep of bowl week (or substitute whatever the major alumni bases are in for those that do not fit in the above example).

The fans blame their team for the lack of discipline as the reason it was close, and they do not feel Les Miles is a good coach (what?) ... they said he was a great person and does a lot for the community. They feel he recruits the QB's that don't fit the system he runs, all while telling me about Randle and OBJ and how Les never used them to the max ability because his system sucks.

They were hungover and admitted defeat in attempting to drink us dry - the money quote: 'we walked into this bar downtown area, Irish I think, and we saw a wall of booze - we knew then Syracuse didn't around when it came to alcohol.' The attendant said -- 'this may be the quietest flight to Atlanta ever ... y'all must be hungover' ... needless to say a chuckle was had by many.

Security man at Hartsfield-Jackson shouted out Big Cuse ... looking good, looking tough - as I walked through the airport in my Cuse polo. Unfortunately when checking into the Sheraton Atlanta (worst stay ever), the front desk girl asked me what Syracuse was -- she thought it was a clothing brand ( I had Orange Cuse polo on and Syracuse gym shorts on ... smh on this still).

All in all what has been addressed here was what was expressed to me in Hotlanta -- we have a good, tough team and people took notice this past weekend. Welcome back to the College Football discussion Syracuse Football.

I wonder if some of the posters from the hoops board are closet LSU football fans...

Constant success breeds unrealistic expectations...you see it on our hoops board all the time...

I'm sure there are Alabama fans out there who are questioning whether Saban is the right guy...

Bob Stoops at Oklahoma and Mark Richt at Georgia have a lot of haters in their fan bases that expect Nattys every year. I don't understand some fan bases, including some of our bball fans. lol

Stoops has won 80% of his games and never had a losing season at Oklahoma. Bowl game every season he's been coach. 8-8 in Bowl Games. 1 National Title. 8 Big12 Chamionships.

Richt has won like 75% of his games with his worst season at Georgia being 6-7. Bowl game every season he's been coach. 9-5 in Bowl Games. 2 SEC Championships.

Some fans are ungrateful turds.

They should. He's evil.

Narrative with Richt will be the same until he wins the Natty. Similar to us in Hoops, being in the discussion simply isn't enough.

Miles is hated by the fringe supporters who expect to have a Fun and Gun offense, and don't understand that a solid run game, stout defense and ball control, while not flashy, can win a lot of games
That was 'Bama's way of doing things, until Kiffin.

How's that going for them? LOL Did I read a report the other day that Saban and Kiffin had a blow out?
Well, no one is yet seriously calling for Kiffin's noggin on a platter. That might change this weekend if they lose to Georgia. Only thing I know of concerning any sort of blowout between Saban and Kiffin is the whole messing around thing with Saban's daughter which, of course, was a totally unfounded rumor.

I think GA rolls them this weekend.

I remember quite vividly how our fans used to complain that we were only in the Top 25 most years and not the Top 10. There were days when I was one of them. Never again once we get back there. And we will get back there. Oh yes. We will.

Georgia might well be the best team in the SEC this year. In my opinion, of course (I think LSU is pretty good, too).

In fact, I would argue that Georgia should be in the top 5 every year based on their recruiting classes and positioning within the college football landscape.

Not a huge Richt guy.

That's basically how some of their fans feel. They say Georgia has too much talent to not be in title contention more.

It's true. Here are recruiting rankings according to Rivals by year:

2015 - #6
2014 - #7
2013 - #12
2012 - #12
2011 - #5
2010 - #15

End of year rankings:
2014 - #13
2013 - Unranked
2012 - #5
2011 - #19
2010 - Unranked

Too much variance for a team with those consistently-high recruiting rankings. Two seasons where they ended the season ranked where we were, despite consistent top 15 talent.

As we know, recruiting rankings are perfectly predictive but they have had a ton of talent and underachieved IMO.

The problem with that logic is that they play in the SEC. There are 2-3 other teams in that conference recruiting even better than that.

Still not a reason to go unranked twice in the last five years. That should be unacceptable.

Georgia 2010 -
Regular season record: 6-6 3 losses to top 25 teams, only big loss was to National Champ Auburn @Auburn. 3 losses to unranked teams by a combined 17 points. They were competitive in every game.

Played #25 UCF in their bowl game and lost by 4 pts. Finished 6-7.

Georgia 2013 -
Regular season record: 8-4 3 losses to top 25 teams, only big loss to #25 Missouri. 1 loss to unranked team by 4 points. Also beat 2 top ten teams South Carolina and LSU. Once again competitive in every game.

Were ranked #23 going into their bowl game with Nebraska which they lost by 5 pts. Finished 8-5.

Those are not awful seasons when you consider the competition and how hard it is to string together so many great seasons no matter how well you recruit.

In his 14 seasons (this is his 15th) He's had 9 double digit win seasons, finished ranked 10 times with 8 of those being top 10 rankings. He also had to coach against Urban Meyer for 5 years, and Tebow for 4 years. Florida won 4 of those 5 matchups during the Meyer years.

Also, Georgia's 2007 team beat 5 ranked teams and was the only team that beat Florida's national title team that destroyed Ohio State. They finished up that year by destroying undefeated Colt Brennan and Hawaii.

Bottom line. Fans are idiots and will find reasons to complain. I would sell my soul for a coach that "under-performs" like that.

The other problem being players driving recruiting rankings aren't always on the field. UGA gets a lot of flak for the number of players they suspend or kick of the team in the media... but a lot of other SEC teams have same type of stuff and never hear a peep or have a player sit out a quarter. Richt runs a tighter ship than most in the conference.

Same thing Cuse runs into. DM and SS would/will both suspend or boot players that other schools would levy lessor penalties for.

Yes, of course as a Syracuse fan you would sell your soul for those under-performs. But Georgia is not Syracuse. That's my point.

Agree to disagree - going 6-7 at Georgia is terrible. Don't care how many losses you have to however many other schools by however many points. That's like saying we only lost to Temple and Rutgers by a combined 4 points during the later P years. We still lost.

You're really comparing the losses Georgia had to Temple and Rutgers? Ok then...

Actually the Colorado loss is pretty comparable to one of them, comparatively speaking. Again, agree to disagree but in my opinion under no circumstance should Georgia ever go 6-7.

Here's the thing with Georgia, how many times are they ranked in the top 10 only to lose a big game that would get them in the NC talk? I'm taking a pissed off Bama team to win, I've seen this too many times in the last 10 years with a top 10 ranked Georgia team. Roll Tide.
