Seeing my brother's old high school ball coach on the pre game got me wondering how life might have been different if O'Leary had stayed and maybe had a turn steering the ship at SU. That guy wins every where he's gone and he's still getting it done.

I don't know O'Leary at all from his days here, but IMO he is such a good coach. He made one mistake (knowingly or not), and he has paid for pretty severely. I believe that he would of been GREAT at ND. Irish Catholic, great football coach, I really think they would have had a great run with him. I am sure that he likes UCF and is perfectly happy there, but I think he could have went down as one of the best coaches of his generation if he had the opportunity to coach at ND.

I agree seems like he was taylor made for ND. He's really built something out of nothing at UCF. I still kinda wish he got a shot here. My brother still loves that guy-

UCF certainly isn't embarrassing themselves so far.

Storm Johnson is going to make the fans of some NFL team very happy. Size, speed, vision.

Is Central Florida that good, or is Baylor and the Big 12 that bad?

Johnson is very very good. UCF getting 17 in this game. I am all over it...I even thought about ML but didn't have the intestinal fortitude.

UCF has a great QB and RB, both are on their game so far.

But it's a long game, I expect Baylor to score a lot. Think of Chic Fil A last night. Took until the 2nd half, but aTm showed up.

He was on my short list last year. He's a Syracuse type of coach, and the guy wins.
I have to believe he might've been a bit better recruiter than P wound up at the end-although comparing recruiting to central Florida vs. central NY is a little unfair

I agree.. Baylor can put up 21 in the blink of an eye. Johnson just missed that one handed catch.

Getting kids eligible at UCF is easier than at SU, as well.
Really has nothing to do with that . Orlando is a hotbed of high school football talent. They just have to grab 15 to 20 Florida kids that get overlooked by UF, FSU, Miami or the other SEC /ACC teams. Lots of the UCF kids are locals that wanted to play close to home. New on campus stadium was built about 5 years ago that has made a strong impact on recruiting. UCF used to play in the Citrus Bowl which was about 20 minutes from campus in the bad section of town. Bad atmosphere that was difficult to attract many students to attend.

And from what I have seen the campus looks very nice.

Very nice campus that has gotten tremendous improvements in the past 15 years. Parking was always a bit of an issue.

In addition to the football stadium they've also added a nice basketball arena on the north side of campus. UCF has benefitted by having lots of land to develop based upon their growing needs over the years. The campus is well designed. It's actually set up like a wheel making it easy to navigate. I could be mistaken but I think they have developed the layout of the campus in the mode of Disney, which uses circular designs in their theme parks.

They have a new med school but it's not on the main campus but rather a new development on the south side of Orlando that is designed as a medical research center.

He's not cool enough for people here anymore. I love O'Leary as many do, but he's a dinosaur at this point He's tough, graduates his kids, NO BS, Great On defense, specials. He recruits under the radar, develops his kids. O'Leary recruits Florida, Georgia, and NY, under the radar kids and develops. One thing about O'Leary that separates him from two of his well known understudies, he gets the college game, understands the booster/ fundraising, etc, What it takes to be successful HC in college

If he was 10 years younger he would be getting looks from the NFL at this point as a HC.

I was hoping Marrone would be George with a higher ceiling.

They will both be in the same conference soon enough.
