We were 60% pass and ran 78 plays per game

Our opponents were 50.3% pass and ran 60 plays per game

If we keep the same number of plays per game but run 50% of the time instead of 40%, our yards per play drops from 5.82 to 5.36. Our yards per game drops from 456 to 420

There's no way we would've gotten as many first downs of course

So what if we were 50/50 run/pass and ran 60 plays per game like our opponents?

Yards per game goes down to 366.

Our opponents were better than us in yards per play yet we outgained them by 1000 yards and we're 9-3. It's incredible.

Last year we were close to even in yards per play. 2022, we were better. 2021, better.

2018, we were worse.

It is very strange that our best years recently are teams that gain fewer yards per play than their opponents but have so many more plays.

8th in 4th down conversions this year. Keep the ball!

We had 34% more first downs than our opponents. They're better per play and we get that many more first downs.

This is what i'm getting at saying that McCord is great at being pretty good. They do just enough to keep the ball and keep chains moving. It's 3 yards and a cloud of dust through the air.

They did a lot of things right this year - if it was by accident, great, learn from it and do it on purpose going forward.

Passing is better than running, only run as much as you need to. Keep the ball,

Orange is the New Fast was a concept ahead of its time.
