he is playing back up RB when our best running RB cant get on the field. In the talk of replacing Estime next year perhaps he goes out to slot as well Fredericks learns the position and gets back in the RB rotation and Neal gets out in space and becomes a slot WR? he seens to be a ways off from the size we need at RB

The end zone! Honestly, I'd like to see how he does sweeps a little because right now he isn't strong enough to run between the tackles. He does seem to have good hands and I'm surprised we haven't seen any screens with him in the game but yeah...some outside/slot position might be best for his talent. Wish he could have redshirted but hopefully this game experience will help him more in his process of being a better player than sitting an entire year...knows what he has to do to get better.

Well it's not as an RB who grinds out tough yards between the tackles due to poor run blocking. Which is really what our RB position is limited to this year.

While I agree that the O-line has struggled blocking for runs the RB's have left some holes/cuts untapped as well by poor reads.

With some s&c he could make big strides and maybe be pretty good at rb, but Estime will leave big shoes to fill at slot and Neal seems like a guy that could shine there.

I wonder if he can return kicks and/or punts? We could use a kick returner right now, and will need to replace Estime at PR next year.

I agree about Slot. I don't think he's broken a tackle since the Colgate game

I agree it's more of a run blocking issue but I can't remember more than one, maybe two, bounces to the outside all year.

It's kind of like watching the marching band on "Animal House" at times.
The OL that's been out there is pretty young, so I have hope there (29 motion penalties notwithstanding), but we really need a stud or a work horse at RB - preferably both.

Can Neal return KOs?

I assume if he could he would have been doing so instead of Riley.

I agree with this. I imagine it's scheme but we seem to block and run to one side and never bounce out to the open outside.

I agree...the line is young and I do think they will be a very good unit over time, no doubt about that.

We used to have some good KRs. Need speed. Need to be fearless. Need to be able to make one half cut at speed. I wouldn't want to do it.

Or not.

Briz wasn't doing returns because of all the reps he was getting on O.
Not in any way due to lack of ability.

He's clearly our best PR guy, and it's a shame it took the staff as long as it did to realize that.

Given that Moe was (at least, theoretically) in a similar position at RB, perhaps the staff wanted somebody else to handle kick returns - hence Riley got the job, since he *wasn't* a key player on O.

I dont think he has the vision to be a good rb

Me either!

I don't know why almost all his runs are to the inside, get him to the outside and let him use his speed and agility and yeah I think he could be used kind of like Phillips as a slot WR. Listen I love what Babers has done obviously, but how they use the RB's sometimes baffles me.

Maybe but Moe is out there once every 4 to 6 possessions though and that isn't that much more than Riley. Brisley has to be there for each possession.

Imo he's a slot guy like Phillips unless he bulks up to 190/195 without losing the speed agility wiggle
This...I want to see him used like Phillips. I have faith that the coaches can help him get there.

Moe should have RS this season. We could have been just fine without him. He can be like a Strickland, just needs to bulk up a bit.

I think Morris would be a better RB in this system, he is a see the hole one cut and go runner which is what an inside running game needs. Or you need a RB that can make some quick jump cuts to evade tacklers in the hole.

Haven't see any of that.

None of our RB's even hit the hole very hard, it seems they are too busy looking and seem really really tentative.
