What is this staff's ceiling?

A top ten ranking by year four
A top 25 ranking by year three, maybe top 15
I can see win totals for the next 4 years as follows:
7 - 5 - 8 - 9

I think you have Year 1 and Year 2 mixed around. This offense is complicatedly simple. Babers himself said it takes around 18 months to digest, so I will endure whatever struggles we have to in Season 1 while maintaining the faith that in Season 2, Syracuse will be putting the ACC on notice! I hope everyone doesn't just anticipate the work of art that is Babers' offense just hitting the ground running at full production. There will be growing pains.

Sky is the limit. I mean that literally.
I think you're absolutely correct in this statement RF2044! If it were just an OC from a productive offensive scheme, I would caution (at least myself) that it may not work. Dino has been the head coach at 2 separate institutions and has been overwhelmingly successful in both stops. Plus, he doesn't have to learn the new role/responsibilities on the job. This coaching hire wasn't realistic to me 3 weeks ago because I figured he'd be courted elsewhere. IMHO, Coyle hit a walk off homerun.

Agree 100%!!!!

Year two schedule (2017). That is a brutal schedule

Well then the answer should be BCS champions.

Thankfully, the BCS sits atop the trash heap of things college football has tried to generate excitement in it's postseason, and we are now onto the 4 team CFP. They wouldn't even need to get into the CFP to be a top 10 team, but they would need to do so for a true championship. Is it realistic they can win their ACC Division with both FSU and Clemson set up for continued success, then go onto win the ACC title game to get into the playoff? Not likely, but by year 4 they should be able to have a season with no more than 2 losses, and that should get them near the top 10.

What's their ceiling currently? Teflon.

I see 6-9 win seasons and depending on injuries/bounces/Ref calls/ and if the D is really good for that particular season 10+.

Year 1: 7-8 wins with a bowl
Year 2: Everyone keeps pointing to the schedule, yes it sucks, but the offense should be moving right along at this point. No reason it can't be another 6-8 wins season with a bowl game
Year 3: 10 wins

This offense is going to drive the ACC crazy and I think we have a very good chance of getting to 10 wins in year 3 because of how well our offense will be beating up on the ACC and with our Heisman candidate Mr. Dungey of course

In 125 years of football, how many 10 win seasons have we had? I think we have the same amount of 10 LOSS seasons (thanks to grob).

We are not in the BE any more. The best programs in the ACC don't regularly win 10 games.

My goal for this staff is to get us back to regular bowl games... Yearly hopefully. I'm sure there will be a special season or 2 where we win 9 or even 10 before barbers moves on. But year 3?

6 ten win seasons (1959, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1992, 2001)

2 ten loss seasons (2005, 2007)

Exactly. 6 in ~125 years of football for a top 15 program in wins. It's RARE. All of a sudden there's people mentioning it like a measuring stick.

Using "125 years of football" is misleading when talking about 10 win seasons.
We played less than 10 games per season until 1950, and we didn't play at least 10 games per season on a consistent basis until the 60's.

Since 1950 we have averaged a 10 win season every 11 years.
Our last 10 win season was 2001.
Next year is 2016.

We're due.

there are only 2 ACC teams right now that you need to be really good to beat. the others we have already seen that a solid game can beat them all not a great game just solid. the biggest difference is that even this year the gap from an avg SU team and beating clemson/fsu/LSU was really just a few mistakes away. dont fumble a handoff. dont miss a FG, stop a 3rd and long and you have a chance to win in the 4th.

sometimes all it takes is that one dynamic player, we have waited too long for ours to show up.. this new offense might get one here..

Miami in the 90s it seemed like a it would take a miracle to beat them, clemson in the teens it feels like just play your game and dont make mistakes.. we gave those teams games this year with an offense that tried to get into the 20s.. if we create one that gets into just the 30s those games become markedly more winnable.

I think we can be as good as North Carolina was this year. Not immediately but within 2-3 years. If not for that bogus offsides call, they might have been in the playoff.

I agree that if this works, we might be able to recruit nationwide to get kids to come here, not just in our normal areas.

We should have been doing this years ago. Everybody should be copying us with our former assistants.
