For me,

Ennis
Gbnijie
Fair
Grant
Christmas

This lineup is the most athletic, gives us the best defense and length, and seems to be very exciting to watch. I didn't put Cooney in there because I'm starting to think he'd fit the Syracuse 6th man role better than G. We need G in the top of the zone with his length and quickness. Cooney could be our spark plug, he seems to be the man who makes things happen this year. He also seems to be improving greatly in transition.

I think Cooney has to play, that lineup is too offensively challenged. Where do the points come from other than from CJ? Two guys that are not offensive threats at all Xmas & Gbinje and two more guys who just don't have their offensive sea legs yet in Grant and Ennis.

C - DC II
- Rak
- Fair
G - Cooney
G - Ennis

I think JB has it right this year. This lineup will be huge if DCII can improve his play a bit and play his way into a position where JB has confidence in him.

Keita

I like the previous ones. The one below played pretty well last night:

Ennis
Cooney
Fair
Christmas
Coleman

JB has said several times over the years his "starters are the players who get the most minutes."

Ennis
Cooney
Fair
Grant
Keita

I feel like this lineup gives us the best balance of offense, defense and rebounding.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm - "comfortable" with ??? What does that mean ???

Comfortable with as starters ? Comfortable with to finish games when we are ahead ? Comfortable with to finish games when we are behind (I am never comfy in this situation) ? Comfortable with for a mid-game run ?

We have lot's of interchangeable parts. Setting aside who is hot & who is cold in any particular game the lineup that I would be most comfortable with depends upon the situation.

Agreed. I don't think you would leave DC II on the court in a late game situation where you are trying to protect a lead, at least until he gets his free throw percentage somewhere north of 50%

Grant
Keita

Depends on the situation but in a vacuum I agree with the above. Seems like Jimmy agrees at this point also. Will be interesting to see how Colemans role progresses through the season I could see him earning Jimmy's trust getting more time and becoming a guy its tough to keep off the floor, or just as easily going the other way and falling into that "starting big man who only plays the first 2 mins of each half" role he was in last year once the sched gets tougher and conf play starts.

Comfortable with as in you feel this group can build and maintain a lead.

Which is something we may not have yet.

This varies from situation to situation, game to game. Give me a scenario and ill tell you what I would do, then what jb would do (the exact opposite cause I know basketball like I know jai alai (pronounced hi - lie)

Even that definition requires two different lineups in my mind.

For lead building I skew to the offensive:

CJ
Ennis
Cooney
Grant
DC2 or X - I am undecided.

For lead maintenance:

CJ
Ennis
Mike G
Grant
X or BMK - probably X more towards mid game & BMK more towards the end of game..

When we have the ball:

Ennis
Cooney
Fair
Grant
Coleman

When the other team has the ball:

Gbinije
Cooney
Fair
Grant
Keita
I'm w you on this one, altho for the defensive lineup IMO you could change rak for Keita and not much difference...

Imagine this zone (If CJ or Jerami were quick enough to play up top)

Gbinije
Fair
Grant
Christmas
Coleman

On offense you could just throw the ball at the rim and one of them would come down with it.

Ennis, Cooney, Grant, Fair and Baye.

Keita has had a couple sub-par games, but he is still our best defender in the middle. You have to have Cooney on the floor to present the threat of an outside shot.

Other than G, you have less than average ball handlers.

I don't like the lineup of Gbinje and Keita out there, but that's just me! When gbinje is out there instead of cooney teams will pack it in. Then on top of that w Keita is out there defenses will not pay much attn to him. That leaves Ennis, CJ and grant against a packed in defense w keitas guy ready on help d. Not enough space for CJ, Grant and Ennis to operate IMO...

I didn't like our offensive spacing AT ALL when gbinje and Keita was out there together last night...

If they're playing like they did in the first four minutes last night (especially the bigs), then this is it. Most well-rounded lineup on offense, and good enough on defense. It was when Grant and Baye came in last night that we got sloppy on offense and started to have difficulty on the defensive glass.

That's why you're at Buff St and JB is in the HOF.

How can you leave Cooney out of the mix when he is the only outside threat you have.

In basketball you are always playing against your opponent not just playing to your own strengths.
