I see a lot of names thrown out there and there seems to be many many solid choices so I'd like to ask, what is your criteria for the new HC at Syracuse University? Mine are:

-Good Teacher and leader...respect of team when they are up or down
-Willing to continue to learn and isn't stubborn on new ideas/improving
-Can recruit and/or has solid ties in the northeast and eastern coast
-Has an offense that can pass or run well and is not one dimensional...tough defense
-A bit of a salesmen but keeps it honest (Maybe an oxymoron)
-X and O's guy and isn't afraid to think out of the box...doesn't live and die by what the proverbial book says
-Understands SU and the area and knows what he is getting into

I'm not asking WHO you want it to be...just the criteria you hope SU uses in their search.

I'm looking for a singer/songwriter who can dance and act.

Real triple threat.

4th and 3 on the opponents 32, what's your move? If the answer is punt:

Hot wife.

He should be a tall man. Six foot eight or taller.

One that will punt from the opponents 33 on 4th and 1 so we can see Millhouse lose it

1. East coast recruiting connections - A PROVEN recruiter with a history of success. I want high school coaches eating from the palm of his hand. I also want him to have connections to other quality recruiters that he can bring on his staff.

2. High energy, motivated, personable, "shmoozy" (good with potential donors)

3. Great evaluator of talent - both players and coaches

4. Accountable and can learn from mistakes, adapt to change, not afraid of innovation (in other words, not prone to common football coach meathead conservatism)

5. A good leader, easy to work for (delegates responsibility well - no micromanaging)

6. Intelligent, good feel for the game (clock managemenet), quick thinker

7. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail (yes, it matters)

just make sure the next coach doesnt label this as a dream job...aint fooling me twice!

My only request is that we get a coach that doesn't punt on 3rd down.

All of these are important, but I really like the idea of someone who thinks outside the box. Specifically, I want someone who goes for it on 4th down much more often. I think coaches are too quick to punt or kick a fieldgoal when all the data says that going for it works in your favor. I'd even encourage a coach to hire a statistician to determine among other things:
  • How often to go for it on 4th instead of punting or kicking a fieldgoal
  • If it is worth burning a timeout to ice the kicker
  • The risk/reward of an onside kick

He should be able to tell the difference between a lager and an ale without looking at the label.

Only 2 for me...

1- Last name to start with the letter D.
2- And for his last name to rhyme with Tiaco
