That article says Golson would start but Maquire might get snaps. Theres also an article, which Im not going to search for, with us saying we did watch the video from the one game last year and that there wasnt much else to look at besides that one game. The official injury report also did not include golson. This is all much ado about nothing. They thought golson was playing. Hes a tough QB to game plan against. They spent their time doing that and not worrying that his backup might get some snaps. Hindsight is great but they are two very different QBs with different strengths.

I am sorry this staff is not good enough for Syracuse to be as good as we can be in college football. We are getting exactly what we are paying for. We have the lowest paid staff in the ACC and outside of UVA I think we have the worst staff in the ACC.

Don't say publicly what he said. It is crazy and doesn't make him look good. We should have known that is more likely than not based on Maguire getting first team reps twice last week he could get some much action. To say we weren't prepared for that is stupid. When people say we have zero margin for errors coaching is a part of that.

You're wrong. It takes more prep to get ready for Golson. He wasn't listed on the injury report. Handling a guy who drops back and passes takes less reps and is easier to prep for. Golson does all that he does but is a better runner.

What if Shafer said "look we heard reports that Golson wasn't taking reps, so we didn't prep for him."

I'm also of the mind that it wouldn't have mattered. At. All.

We got it, you badly want SS gone. Some agree and some don't, he is here for the rest of the season and I think he'll be back next year.

That's not the case thou as I knew as a Syracuse fan that Macquire was taking 1st team reps all week in practice? So if I know and I am a casual fan then shouldn't our coaches know that as well? I mean they are getting paid for this

That's not what that article said. He took 1st team reps twice during the week. It also doesn't say he took all the first team reps those 2 days. For all we knew they were a precaution. The article even says Golson was starting. He also was not out per any injury report. I bet the week leading up to Dungeys return that Mahoney took some snaps with the first team. Doesn't mean you game plan for that. We game planned for Golson. He was supposedly playing.

I don't get the beef here. HCSS said he hadn't played enough reps to get tendencies on him. Are you really suggesting one game from last year and mop up reps this year should be enough? Ultimately it doesn't matter. FSU has more talent at every position. Do you honestly think it makes any difference who played QB or how much film we had on them?

I started following the FSU guys on twitter and they all were saying he was taking 1st team reps...I'm just saying the info was out there for the coaches to not be blind sided but honestly I could of been QB and FSU was still going to win the game...I guess i'm just not 100% confident in their game planning if that makes sense?

I don't want the coach saying publicly they didn't prepare for a backup QB who according to the media had been taking first team reps 2 days. I thought somebody in the staff would be assigned to glance at the media coverage of the opponent for nuggets of information. I guess I am wrong about our staff doing that.
