What was up with the six yard penalty?

Can't remember exactly when during the game...but BC has the ball midfield. First down. Gain of 4. SU gets called for offside. BC accepts the penalty. Ref paces off six yard. First and four. I looked at the guy next to me, "what was that?"

I think you have it a bit mixed up. They had a gain of 6 to make it 2 and 4, and accepted the penalty to make it 1 and 5. It was on a Willis carry right? They must have had it marked wrong on the scoreboard or something, they had it right on TV.
