What was with the hidden camera on Laurie Fine?

In the piece on ESPN, they kept showing all these hidden camera shots of Laurie Fine... What was the point? Those are the types of things that are done if you want to catch someone in the act... Not if you just want a picture. And who was taking the hidden camera shots? I thought they said they were from 2003, so was it Davis? Or was he still in Utah?

As is everything in this story, bizarre.

Probably so viewers could hear her voice with video, instead of only the phone recording. This might have been used by the voice recognition expert.
