He had all the physical tools, and he was a religious Christian and a bright kid, Stanford-bound if he didn’t sign—which suggested a strong bearing.

Not sure how bright he is? A creationist?

Claims his dad was a tough love guy.

He got married at 18.

In 5 low minor league seasons he hit .237 and his fielding average was .926.

Sounds like he wasn't ready for the real world.

An $850,000 signing bonus. Cry me a river.

I love stories like this (well, not for him personally), but I like to hear about the psychological end of sports. Some of these guys seemingly have life by the balls and you really don't know what's happening in their head. Very interesting read.
